fuck dix. what is up with music software companies
nowadays. it just seems that every single program i use has
gone to shit the last few years.

5 years ago i was able to launch like 8 instances of absynth
in fruity loops 7 without my pc chocking. right now in
fruity 10 i add like one instance of any new NI product and
it just goes wargll argbl. wtf.

and don't get me started on fl studio. fuck. 10 versions in
this software sux dix so much it creates black holes. how in
the fuck are half of the controls in the software
non-undoable ? christ how. you turn a knob, it changes it's
sound completely and hey - your great sounding pads are
TOAST you hear me. no undo. because FUCK YOU. there is also
no way of manually typing in values so you can sit two hours
trying to move your mouse half a milimeter just to find the
right one.

oh and don't get me started on using samples. you wanna know
how to destroy a track a dozen hours in ? i'll tell ya :

take a sample and stretch it to the grid so it loops
seemlessly in your arrangement. keep in mind that the sample
is now stretched by some factor which you don't now. oh and
use a very long sample for ADDITIONAL KIX. now make your
awesome track for a few days. make it really cool. and now
the hit - turn "snap" to "none" and accidently restretch the
sample by a few milimeters.

WOAAAAHHH - the sample resamples it's speed now and eeeevery
piece of it is now out of tune, sync, fuck, everything. of
course - YOU CAN'T UNDO. BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU. now you
could just turn snap on and stretch it back to grid BUT IT
DOESN'T SNAP TO GRID BECAUSE THE AMOUNT YOU RESTRETCHED IS
TO SMALL AND IT EITHER UNDER OR OVERSNAPS THE GODDAMN GRID.

yeah okay so you just turn snap off again and try to
manually on full zoom stretch it back to grid but fuck EVERY
goddamn time you move your mouse HALF A FUCKIN MILIMETER it
resamples the sample which takes goddamn ages if you have a
few minutes one i kid you not.

yup. also since 7 fruity loops randomly derps out
completely, and

sometimes - oh yes sometimes - when you have a too big track
with lots of shits going on it just hangs up your fucking pc
2 out of 3 times at export.

okay i could just freeze the channels but goes what - NO
FUCKIN FREEZE. right. whoever would use that. you can
however record your track to a sample which takes as much
time as the track lasts and i better hope for you the
latency doesn't pop or you have JUST A FUCKIN STAIN IN YOUR
FUCKIN SAMPLE.

god shit i will just rewire that shit up into ableton and
manually record each track into it for fucks sake.

don't get me started on ableton. how can you in 2012 not
have exponential envelopes is a fuckin miracle. and DAT cpu
hogging. are you kidding me ? what the hell does it do with
those samples ? deep fry it ?

goddamn shit fuck

screen.

nah j/k bro, but seriously: why FL10 ? last time FL8 crashed
I found working version of FL5. haven't been happier ever
since.

maybe try coming back to old, stable versions, not
overfilled with crap unneccesary add-ons

hope your pc stays healthy for the weekend

it sure will because i'm going to get butt-wasted from
friday till sunday and not touch it at all. that's why i was
intensively trying to finish my remixes for melack this
week.

yeah i actually thought about that. i remember having the
best time with fruity 5 and made probably most of my tracks
with it. stable as fuck idd. although still that sample
stretching thing i mentioned above.

srsly i thing i will even go so far as to reinstall windows
xp as windows 7 hates me so much and my audio interface as
well.

oh...I haven't tested Win7 nor Vista yet - and I hope I'll
never have to. I'm on xp, bless it - works alright both on
my pc and laptop.

well half a year ago i was like "shiat i'll never drop xp"
because i never believed in 7 after the vista fiasco. but
actually after using it intensively at work i kind of got
used to it.

i gave it a go and made a few benchmarks and actually both
my laptop (core 2 duo) and my desktop pc (amd x2) and it
actually performed better on both even with only 2 gb of ram
on both. so that got me convinced.

but it has it's flaws. there are a few small quirky but
important programs that won't work, got problems with legacy
hardware (graphics on my laptop, audio interface on my
desktop) and the occasional crap outs and bsods. i think in
the late days windows xp sp3 never bsoded when not asked too
for me.

go back to a previous version.

go back to when it all worked, get yourself happy again, so
you can make your music. and send back the newer versions
and get y money back. make a polite video of your problem
and send that to them.

do not struggle anymore .

well to be happy again i would have to go back to around
2002, be excited about drukqs, smoke weed, have a 1,73 ghz
centrino, fruity 3.56 and a sample pack i got from my
teacher (which - btw is one thing i'm depressed THE MOST in
life - i lost this sample pack a few years ago and i cannot
finnish ANY of my tracks from around before 2005. lost
forever.)

i'm in desperate need of a hug. maybe a brohug even. i hate
my job but i have my credit to pay for my flat so i have to
still be in my shit job from which i come home at 6pm
exhausted not able to do anything and the computer derps
when i try to make music and i get frustrated so i rather
make myself some pierogis which then loose their intenstines
and eveerything ends in a soup which even the dog wont eat
anymore nor my dad who isn't talking to me since saturday
when i told him i bought a flat without his help and that he
is supposed to fuck out of my life and i got really drunk
and i met this really cure girl a friend of my friend with
who we slept besides on his couch and i was like shiaaat she
is like sleeping on the same couch as me so she must have
like feelings for me but it was rather that she was living
on the other side of the town and she was hella drunk but i
am like SOOOO butterflies in the stomach and shit and it's
like spring outside and sun and flowers and birds and shit
fuck i should get back to my work

Shit like this was the reason I abandoned floops. Reason all
the way for me these days (till Ohm Studio is up and
running, at least).

tried reason several times. was appaled by the sequencer.
although when it comes to performance it's ridiculous. on my
intel atom netbook maybe one of all those demo tracks craps
out.

now that you can use samples and soon third party plugins
and with the overhauled sequencer i in fact might five it a
go i guess.

you got so many bad things going on you cant focus on any
for long enough to sort them out propperly.

just think it is going to take time , but in a few weeks you
could be sorted , and when you get there you'll appreciate
it 50 times more cause you been through so much sht.

write down each problem to stop it buzzing in your head.

then put the best solution next to it, and then figure the
time it will take to fix as many of the problems you can.

as for computer stuff...i still use a copy of aftereffects
from something like 2002. afx 5.5 it f*ing works. and that
means i can work. it isnt quad friendly but its definatley
my fave for video. i use old versions of audio sequencers
too.

as for samples? your sequencer should list what is missing .
just dl the samples off a torry site and use them until you
can replace the original disks. if you point your sequencer
in the direction of a folder it will search for the missing
files. you wont have to do that much.

i had a bomb go off in my head last week. it aint nice.
just try to sort as much as you can ...as for the bits you
cant ...fk it. do not care about it. unless you think there
is a way ...then aim to fix if you really think its worth
the time.

fweqy : )

come to Jelonka, they have good pierogis in bar Kubu¶, then
we can have a beer or several at bar Ma³gosia or better at
Bar Nad Bobrem: they brought the benches and tables out
already, there's one hell of a view on the river and
mountains

reason ftw. I don't use 6 tho, only 5. I have it rewired to
reaper, helps with the sampling/sequencing issues.

from the way you're discussing working with loops i'd
suggest checking out ableton - it's a pretty swift jump from
fl, and it's mounds easier.

or if you really wanna stick it to the big guys, keep an eye
out for the new, open source bitwig studio - it's built a
few ex-abletoners, with the aim for fixing all the shit
people complain about in ableton.
