16bit rules,
President of Europe anyone? or his remixes of Little
Dragon?
For me one of the best is his Cobra EP, the self titled +
the track Jump =)
Discuss...

jump is a great track. swine flu is absolutely brutal, and
the borgoe foes remix will always be my anthem for the
summer of 2009.

also, if you're into 16bit you should check out koan sound -
similar super hard stuff, but really funky with pristine
production value.

Yeah I love in the death car and chainsaw calligraphy. I'll
definitely check koan, thanks for the recommendation.

chainsaw calligraphy was one of those tracks that inevitably
HAD to be made, and thank god 16bit got to it before someone
lamer.

highly recommend the kanji kinetic remix of chainsaw
caligraphy.

the original is for me one of my favourite filth tracks.
although lost this year with the magnificent "feldspar" by
eprom.

feldspar is probably one of my favorite tracks of all time!
eprom is a GOD. i've chatted synths with him and nastynasty
before - i couldn't follow a word either of them were
saying, and everything that came out of my mouth felt like
caveman speak.

last week on acid i was listening to a bunch of eprom and
the rest of the frite nite crew and went into a serious
spiral of self-loathing just because i felt like i'd never
be able to make music like that. i can't say enough good
things about that dude.

never heard of eprom before but it sounds kinda cool.check a
couple of tracks and he makes pretty varied stuff. doesn't
stick to one sound.

16bit does some nice shit from time to time. I regard him as
the best in "that kind of dubstep". the kanji remix of
chainsaw chaligraphy is indeed bangin.

thought to be honest, this kind of music is more about the
production value then it is about ... musicality.

seems like all the dubstep producer are in a race to have
the loudest mastered track and most distorted bassline.
In the end though, it all sounds the same.
*sqreech sqreech owowoWOWOowowo AAAAAAAHHHHHH aaaaaaaah
PRRRRRRRRRR*

they keep trying to one up each other in making tracks even
more grotesk and "epic" sounding. but I feel that they seem
to be forgetting that they are making music. dubstep tracks
these days are straight abominations. all about technique
and who has the most VST's.

it all sounds mind numbingly boring.

I like the bay area beats scene. Eprom, nastynasty,
slugabed all have a nice sound. Eprom in particular seems
to be off on his own experimental direction.

16bit scrapped their album... :'(

Eddie Jefferys aka DRT just made a track for foreign
beggars..The other guy Jason Morrison aka Kidnappa is in
this duo called Broken Note.

Didn't Coldcut and Hexstatic do Chainsaws much better, over
a decade ago, with Timber?

That Feldspar track is new to me. All the more effective for
the floaty pacific state style intro.

isnieZot: I agree. I look back on when people thought IDM
wasn't music and just a producer technical cock-waving and
laugh. Yes, there might have been electronic show off
wankery, but at least the people doing it could write a tune
underneath it all that would stand on its own merit.

I don't see serious jazz bands or classical orchestras
covering Eprom or 16bit any time soon. :)

i beg to differ - eprom's full length 'metahuman' that came
out this year is an artistic masteripiece. magnificent use
of melody, space, patterns, & rhythms (durrp that's all
music). my favorite album of 2012 by far.

seriously, check this one out, it is INCREDIBLE. tracks like
variations could absolutely be covered by an acoustic band.
