Just want to run some snippets of tracks past you. These
are odd to me, I'm not sure what I've been up to. Very
different from my main style. I'm trying to mix a lot of new
energies into a braindance type of groove which I feel I'm
pulling off with a lot of the stuff I plan to output at some
point soon. These are the tracks I'm less sure about so I'm
using you guys as a sound board. Tell me all about what you
like and what you don't like at all.

here's some comments for what they're worth.

the 1st track i am feeling slightly more than the 2nd and
3rd tracks tbh. Though i am a bit of a sucker for anything
with reverb claps. Maybe vary the beat up a little - the
snares.

4th track is quite nice in a lowkey way, quite like it,
interested in where you'd take it next.

5th track is cool too, for me it might be better without the
synthy bass you have going through it, would quite like you
to bring that beat out more.

6th track - nice, i like this, really sweet, nice bass on
this, again, would like to see where you take it actually,
kind of loopy at the minute

7th track i'm not feeling so much, maybe just not my thing,
maybe too much going on above the beat for me to really
enjoy.

btw dude, they're just thoughts as i was listening, not
really in depth criticism here.

It's always a treat when you drop these gems on us!

#1 Nice layered sound all-round, but would love to hear more
emotion in the synthwerk that i know you're capable of

#2 You seem to get this nice punchiness to your drums in a
lot of tracks; really it's the whole clip punching me in the
right places though on this. Calling this way early, but
feel this might be my fave one already! I like that it's
bouncy and fun

#3 Wasn't sure about it initially haha, but the cheesey
synth just redeems it. The first half reminds me of a China
Town level in a pixelated videogame.

#4 Yes yes love this growly one! I might have spoken too
soon after #2. All I might add is, would love for that
background layer of bleepiness to gradually make sporadic
love with the melody somehow (from about 4:02 onwards but
really further in) like some very subtle microedits to this
effect would be genius. But really love how it is already :)
Probably it's better with the ghostnotes played in my head
anyhow! Disregard ^

#5 Definately develop this one, I want to hear the whole
thing! If it were a building, I'd comment on the interesting
architecture and immersive spaces. Those vocal snippets add
a nice atmosphere, kinda japanesy feel to em. In fact most
if not all these clips so far give an oriental vibe, come to
think of it. Digging those drums! This is one of the more
cerebral tracks I've heard from you, +excellent production
values.

#6 This composition isn't nearly as careful as in most of
your stuff general. Compared with the trademark ampi sound
I'm used to, it comes across bit clunky - think it's just
the drum kicks though. Note I've been listening in
headphones all this time, will give another listen with
speakers later. Just.. something doesn't sit right
spatially. Am being rather anal though. really digging the
melody which is the most important thing. Give this one the
same careful treatment as your other tracks, yo

#7 Omg such lovely tune, please please develop this one!!!
You've presented us with a cluster of layers at once for the
purpose of a short demo, I get that. Right now it's all
icing without the muffin. Pad it out, weave in the layers
etc etc you know exactly what it needs. Would love to hear a
longer version! Haha great that you saved this one until
last...here I was thinking it couldn't possibly get better
from here on. Has a subtle BOC vibe about it, only picked up
on that over a 2nd listen.

Your sound has definately matured in my ears and love the
direction you're going with these. Deffo some of my fave
tracks by AMPI to date plus they all seem to play nicely
together back to back. The only one that didn't hit me
straight away were #1 and #3 we'll call them 'growers'.

Scrap the icing/muffin analogy, it's the complete muffin but
just a small slice of it rather than the whole thing. Lol

'for what they're worth'
dont worry bout it dude seriously thnx for comments

so the first 3 dont do it for you hmm i thougtht they'd be
the most up ppls street. id hoped folks would dig 5 but
wasnt sure of the vocal thing. its the 7th one im least sure
of. i mean its pretty but i feel like its sickly sweet. i
like the mixing on it tho where the drums are really covered
up but still drive things along

ha yes track 3 is very me. i still do tracks like that but i
think i am starting to phase them out a little. surprised
you werent more into the first 2. i really thought it would
be the other tracks people werent into. i think its the
strange snare patterns youre not enjoying. Im really into
those these days

no youre a muffin ^^
v glad you like these. youve always appreciated the things i
hope people will appreciate when i make a track so im glad
you picked up those same bits in these. Really glad you feel
these are a good progression on my style. This is lovely
feedback cheers bruvaah

oh and youre so right about 6. i find it a bit flat compared
to the way the others are layered. i do like it for the same
reason torturegarden probably does, but i need to spice that
one a lot i think.

Downloaded these earlier and was impressed as ever. Think
Hexane says pretty much my feelings.

Don't abandon any of them, but for me 4 has a lot of
potential. 5 has a great old school rave feel to it, really
hype sound, chucking shapes with glow sticks, hands in the
air, loveliness.

Then there is 7. simply sweet. probably my favourite of them
all.

cool man so the numbra 7 isnt too icky? tbh i think im
really going to have to fiddle up that crying synth line
over the top of everything its just too emo i think. i'll
just make some of the notes do less twiddly stuff and break
it all up a bit.

1 Kinda repetitive. Sounds kinda like a worse version of the
last half of autechre Maphive 6.1, one of my least favorite
autechre tracks. Main pro is background reverb sound
strikes. Otherwise seems like a blaring beat where
percussion positioning was decided by mouse clicking rather
than 'feeling'. Slightly reminds me of tetrisphere too
maybe.

2 Liked the beginning squagglyness. The lopsided beat was a
weird addition, maybe better with no beat. The, uh,
tamborine is kinda frantic too. But I like the melodies.

3 hmm.. maybe that main bass melody would sound better more
jagged since it kinda plays a role of a beat. Like quick
short melody strikes instead of longer lasting tones, yeah.

4 Nice, favorite so far. All the whitenoise background stuff
makes it feel like you're in an ether. Start melody is kinda
blubbery chipmunk/baby noises but I like it.

5 Noisy, not really pleasing to listen to for me (beat or
mel).

6 2nd favorite. Also 'noisy' (busy) but in a good way this
time. Beat is less stumbly than above and like the mel too.

7 Maybe that bass mel could be a lot louder, maybe 4x or
something and 'jagged' too, to tie it together better. 3rd
favorite probably. 'trumpet'ish melody on top is nice.

it's funny, #5 had washed over me on the first listen when
had it more or less as background music to getting ready in
the morning. it is dense (as in busy, not stupid) but in a
good way because it took my ears/brain a bit longer to
unscramble and translate over subsequent listening. i really
dig it

also agree with what mwm said about #3, was super close to
mentioning it but didn't have any better suggestions hehe.
the bass melody is fine but maybe could try something
different with the patch used

don't fuck with #7 too much it's already awesome :)

really dont dig 1 huh. i think 1 is maybe the strongest
track but seems its hard for people to get into it

i know what youre saying about the jagged thing. well at
least i think i do. if you mean putting loads of wobble lfo
on the bass then that wont be done but i like 'reflecting'
micro blips of melody in various delay patterns which
thickens up a song nicely.
glad u like 4, im a bit scared of being all dubstep but i
think it has more of a beat mantra kind of feel. thats what
all these weird juke ish offstep beats are about

'jagged' was a failed quick brainfart metaphor I guess.
I meant shorter 'instant', striking sounds like:
BOO! ............BOO!............ BOO!

instead of

BOOoooooo..BOOoooooooo..BOOOOooooo..
(quicker note off)

just for that one particular bass melody, but its your song
and that was just my suggestion obviously.
