xltronic! I'm buying some monitors tomorrow. What are you
using, would you recommend them?

I've been using some Tannoy 501a ones and they're rather
nice but I want to try something different.

Should point out that I'm not massively rich.

I had a look at these. £400 a pair, right at the very top
of my budget. Supposed to be excellent for the price though.
I will listen to them in the shop!

I'm buying them because I really need to replace my current
speakers that *were* ancient sony supposedly hi-fi speakers.
I got a deal from a reseller for that price shipping
included, I'm basing my pick on reviews really, never heard
them playing live, maybe I should go and check them but I'm
too lazy. I'll just wait for them to be shipped and I'll eat
my cock if I don't like them.

I myself have Yamaha MSP5 for many years, yet still can't
afford new ones while compressors, synths are always on the
top list :)

I worked once in a studio that had Dynaudio , very great
sound but quite pricey. I would suggest Adams, cause i know
a lot of people using them with great results. I would get
some Adams my self one day.

i have alesis m1 mk2. they do the job, even if my placement
is far from optimal, I had to plug the bass ports as well.
the LEDs at the front are far too bright, so i put some
stickers over them.

on the bright side, hanal got a pair as well, so you know
it'll help with erectile disfunction

The alesis ones were at the top of my list! Smack bang in
the middle of my price range and they have some really
positive reviews.

I'll wing it tomorrow with a hangover. What's the worst that
can happen?

probably a midget with a machete chopping off your knob, but
that's the worst case scenario.

hope your journey to monitorland will prove to be fruitful

Somehow buying gear can be more exciting than making music.
Like you love music so much, that buying stuff that helps
make music is somehow gratifying, whether any of that shit
is used or not. Amazing how that can work out.

I have some krk rp8s and I think they sound great but I
don't have anything to compare them to.

been using the same pair of mackies for 10yrs. you can find
a pair of the good mackies for 400-500 these days on ebay or
craigslist. worth it. make sure they are the old ones.

I hear great things about those yamaha's. I would suggest
avoiding anything by krk, its all marketing.

Well... NS10s weren't meant as monitor type, abstract sonic
reference speakers... but I guess people mix on them just
fine?

i recently bought the yamaha hs 50's, im quite satisfied.
they are good budget monitors(one of the better
quality/price ratio imo), the only thing is they don't have
alot of low. i don't mind but alot of people seem to so..

pff, i hated picking monitor speakers btw. everybody knows
what's best, making up fake terms to describe some cool non
existing functions. 'put some high near the
cucumbersectionsq3b... you know. very x-delta 93' in a way..
