i had to leave most of my stuff in storage for over a year and only had access to a small laptop. After trying 2 different usb audio interfaces the one that gave me the least lag recording in from hardware with no pops/clipping was m-audio fast track ultra. Still use ableton 1.5 that I bought on disk back in 2002 to record. And soundforge to master. |

first things first: get to know the "gear" you're using (it being digital or analogue or whatever) and learn to use it WELL. second of all "gear" is not all that important. third of all look at my first point. |
