this is really strange. it's probably dying down now but
this was interesting yo.
this isnt anger
its not anti establishment
its not a cry for help.
these people were just enjoying themselves. it was
embarrassingly pointless.
the press has already made this stylish and stirred shit
facebook hyped the thing up
the government has no idea what to do and dont have enough
police.

its just,,strange

You must recognise that the riots weren't organised in the
sense that there is no one absolute mentality behind it,
some people are going to do destructive things when their
adrenaline is pumping, and i don't blame people for being
mad about those people. It's just that some rioters probably
had other ideas which didn't involve smashing independent
businesses etc. And perhaps those people really do have a
point. Instead the BBC is just intent on shoving everyone in
a neat box and saying they should all be shot with rubber
bullets and brought to justice - sorry but that's more
disgusting than a few burnt out buildings, a few crying rich
people in ealing and a smashed up mcdonalds.

"but the people they are revolting agaisnt isnt the
government, isnt the 'system' isnt even the police - they
are hitting and hurting thier own communities, they're own
people. leaving families homeless, and retailers fucked in
an already uncertain economic times. im all for protest,
but
this is selfish greed. jesus there was even footage on news
24 earlier of a girl trying on trainers before she looted
them inside the sports shop. footage of cunts helping one
guy who had had his face smashed in to hi feet whilst
another guy unzipped his backpack and stole shit whilst he
was dazed. awful."

Saw that clip to with the young kid and his back pack, would
have love if he turned around then with a gun in his jacket
and blew the heads off of these guys, walked over to your
one lifted his gadget that was nicked and walked off.

here are some thoughts:

Why don't the black youth who feel they are treated
differently, listen in class, gain an education and stop
complaining and making excuses to behave like animals
without a conscience. Not all black youth are like that, the
ones with parents who guide them and watch them, get good
jobs and are upstanding citizens and the police should be
given more powers, such as beating the shit out of them
while they are looting and burning down peoples hard earned
livelihood. This would not happen in Europe

What i am concerned about is a man called Mark
Duggan. He has parents. He has brothers. He has sisters.

He also had a gun

Strangely he forgot to mention that he had an illegal gun in
his posession.

the key thing is mass suggestion.

"look, that guy over there is looting a store; i guess that
means it's OK for me to do it as well."

... and then it escalates, more and more people tag along.

ever heard about former highly educated and law-abiding
citizens committing war crimes, etc? (nazism, the balkan
war, etc, etc).

it's basic psychology. "if everyone else does it it's OK"

MOST people are sheep, they WANT someone to tell them / show
them what to do, no matter how "immoral" or "criminal".

MOST people do NOT sit down and reflect on their individual
moral and ethics, they simple follow a leader. this is a
fact.

yes those youtube comments are all in their own way
lame or concerning. the point is this: people are going to
mumble and grumble and people like darcus howe are going to
say stupid things like 'this is just like the 80s'. it will
create a seething yet emotionally distant atmosphere.
black people will feel like its revolution time. bnp whites
will feel like its revolution time. small ethnic groups will
feel like it's revolution time. all the soft students will
feel like it's revolution time. all the old men will think
its revolution time.
it's not even fucking revolution time. we are still
recovering from daft ideas, we dont need a REVOLUTION.
this does really concern me

This guy sums up the whole thing better than any of the news
channels can and even though some of the guys looting are
proper scumbags (the ones pretending to help the guy with
the backpack) what this guy says makes perfect sense, how
can David Cameron relate to the youth when he doesnt even
live in Croydon or whatever, we need more working class
politicians.

well darcus howe made very little sense to me over the last
few days, regardless of his legacy (which im fully aware
of), id argue that its dodgy territory to just pin this down
to the oppression of black youth (which clearly goes on dont
get me wrong), there were plenty of white faces looting in
wolverhampton etc. Im a youth worker with 10+ years
experience and trust me many of these kids already have the
xboxes, the ipods, the clothes, regardless of thier
background, putting these acts down to poverty is also id
say inaccurate. i work with plenty of disadvantaged kids who
have no history of buglary or public disorder. these kids
are ignored by society and in many cases their own families,
who dont have a traditional nurturing structure to instill
morals because their parents were 15, 16 when they were
born. im not saying what these kids did was right obviously,
these guys have no concept of community, no concept of
respect for the community they live in, and no respect for
law and order - they are unlikely to get a decent job so
they dont give a shit. thankfully they are a minority in
this country. i just find it very sad because kids in this
country get a hard enough time from the press as it is.

whens the next aphex twin album out?

The UK Prime Minister is to evict known rioters from council
houses, leaving them homeless.

"For too long we've taken a too soft attitude towards people
that loot and pillage their own community. If you do that
you should lose your right to the sort of housing that
you've had at subsidised rates.

"Obviously, that will mean they've got to be housed
somewhere else - they'll have to find housing in the private
sector - and that will be tougher for them, but they should
have thought of that before they started burgling."

Is that the best he can come up with , force rioters out
onto the street homeless? WTF.

this so called government is unreal. they seem to have
absolutely no grasp of the underpinning issues around this
last weeks events, do they live in a fucking bubble or what?
and what does that message give to kids? we really dont give
a fuck about you as now we're removing your homes? kids that
dont commit burglary and crime have been so excluded by
their education system that they are unskilled to aquire a
job let alone maintain a private tenancy. frankly i have
little time for MP's advising on topics such as crime and
adequate crime punishments when the majority of them were on
the fiddle for years with tax payers money with their
expenses!!

so...er....when is the next boards of canada album coming
out?

cheers dude, no your not ignorant your comments are spot on.
polls out tommorow in the independant suggest that 35% think
cameron handled this weeks events appropriately with a
similarly low 45% for the police not using powers granted to
them in the riots act. i just hope this doesnt get brushed
under the carpet over the next few weeks and something good
can come out of this. i popped into wolverhampton this
afternoon, christ, what a mess. massive respect to those who
turned up broom in hand to offer support in the clean up
operation. its fucks me right off when kids get labelled
negatively and unjustly in this country. youths were out in
force across the west midlands to help. daily mail, the
express and the like need to big up kids instead of putting
them down.

Despite the moral ending there were some interesting points
made. It's funny how little the media pays attention to the
possible effects of fatherless families. In general, and
with respect to the recent events.
It's so basic. And yet, even government can't seem to put
any handles on it. Instead of playing some sort of national
"dad" trying to bring sense to the crowds by punishing
them.

Let's jus hope the media picks up on this.
