$80 shoes. Outrageously not worth it?

So I just bought these shoes by REI for $80. I think they
are absolutely FABULOUS, but I also think I am completely
nuts for spending that much on a pair of shoes. I'm still
debating whether or not to return them and go buy something
of better use, as well as the fact that I will be broke for
the next month or so. But god, am I obsessed.
shoes here.
So, too outrageous? Keep or return.

The only kind of people who use the word fabulous are 50+
year old cougars or 25+ year old gay men.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with spending that much
local currency on a pair of shoes. value is the vocabulary.
feet are a sliding scale.

cheap shoes fail regularly. if you are in the spirt, next
time give the homeless a fair pair of shoes - boots,
especially if the season is winter. you will have made more
a difference than some bowl of noodles could have ever.

shoes which do cost way more then $80 dollars...... some of
them even cost more then $100 dollars!!!!! having that being
said my best shoes of all times were only $20 and still are
in use but they are in rough beat up but still function and
served for many a year

check this guy's posting history, it's brilliant. every
topic (all 300+) is a cleverly disguised ad. seems to cut
and paste the same thing on a few boards, and the informal
style just sucks people right in...

I never pay for shoes, unless they are wooden blocks with
straps nailed to them. That is really the only way to walk.
