I don't really like Pink Floyd and I am deeply suspicious of
anyone who does. I'm sorry if that upsets a lot of people on
this message board, but it's just the way it is.

Aphex shouldn't stick his nose into seventies music anyways.
Everything what was good about the seventies either got soul
or blues. Aphex' got neither. At least, not in those
seventies sense.

Pink what?

"I don't really like Pink Floyd and I am deeply suspicious

I dont get what you mean mate, Pink Floyd were a rock group
but they also featured a fare amount of cool electronics in
their music, in fact I dare say that Aphex Twin was
influenced by a track like On The Run (Dark Side) with the
synths giving the illusion of travelling. Saying that, you
will either love them or hate them, obviously you hate them.
But why are you suspicious of Floyd fans, I like Aphex Twin
but I like trillions of other stuff too including Floyd, ah
well each to their own.

"Aphex shouldn't stick his nose into seventies music
anyways.
Everything what was good about the seventies either got
soul
or blues. Aphex' got neither. At least, not in those

Well he (Aphex) already has to an extent dipped his nose
into the 70s if you take into account what Tangerine Dream,
Can and Brian Eno, Robert Fripp et all was doing, Floyd too
with the soundscaping or I would put it as well as making
good dance type sounds Aphex also makes extremely good
Musique Concrete. Anyway forgive me for starting this
thread I just started it for the crack, to see what sort of
reaction I would get. Dont take me too seriously just
having a larf and a we bit of a thought provoking talk heh
heh.

I don't think there's a slight chance for another Pink Floyd
album, but if RDJ joined them - who's sit would he take ?
Wright's or Waters'ss ? keyboard/singing or bass/singing ?
crazy

mad...but on the run is the great, put some running hihats
and a 808 snare under 2 and 4 and you have something which
sounds v. close to detroit electro.

on tha run

really impressive stuff for the time period.

it's really hit or miss for me regarding 70s useage of
electronic gear (or earlier) - there's nothing quicker to
blast my head off than using vintage gear and hearing cheezy
stereotypical 'future' sounding music like soo many did.
that on the run is a perfect example of quality. even more
impressive considering the era it was created. using future
electronic gear to make sounds that still fit the era, vs
diddling to make cheesy 'futuristic' sounds, almost as if
they were trying to build a sound-track to the magazines
printing 'flying car' ads as the view into the future.

im far too uneducated on floyd. need to get around to
everything

The Orb already collaborated with them. Well, with Peter
Gilmour at least. Result is kind of spacey and distracting.

Steinvordhosbn you should check "the piper at the gates of
dawn", their first album, it's nothing to compare with their
airplane stuff
