Photography is a lesser art. Anyone can point and click; the
camera does all the art for you. Might as well take a
picture of something interesting like your nutsack or
something. Did you know that you can find lots and lots of
pictures of anuses on wikimedia commons?:
LAZY_TITLE
I think the whole purpose of that site is for Jimmy Wales to
horde such pictures.

"Photography is a lesser art. Anyone can point and click"

The art of photography is in the composition and film
processing (nowadays Photoshop post-processing). Yes,
"anyone" can take a snapshot, but not everyone can take a
good photo.

Lol, you are a funny, ignorant man. :)

Only people who know nothing about photography and aren't
good at it say things like that.

i agree with w M w's sentiment that photography is a lesser
art (compared to, say, writing, music and painting).

ernest hemingway? check.
claude debussy? check.
pablo picasso? check.

photographer? who the fuck cares?

don't get me wrong; i love photos. actually i go to photo
galleries as often as i can, but where's the "REAL"
creativity behind taking a photograph?

as a writer you string together words and sentences to a
unified whole.

as a musician you string together notes and phrases to a
unified whole.

as painter you string together colors and shapes to a
unified whole.

as a photographer you take a snapshot of whatever is
happening right NOW.

there's a big difference you know.

Photography is hard to pin down. Some photos are art, some
are just snapshots. Some are composed, some are improvised,
some are totally random.

Like a piano, anyone can press a key and make it go. It's
the end results that matter.

From MySpace self-portraits to Spencer Tunick's Naked States
project, there's a spectrum of quality and artistic
involvement. It's the same for most things, really.

Anyone can write.

Anyone can compose music.

Anyone can paint.

Anyone can snap a photo.

The art is in having something to say, and executing that
concept well.

Sometimes I wonder what's going on in XLT
then realize that everyone is arguing about concepts.
