This album is a little baffling to me. The almost-carnival atmosphere turns me off a bit, but the attention to detail is astonishing.

First impressions made me think of the JSF. It's awesome, but redundant at the same time. Production sounds flawless. But the music hasn't made sex to my ears yet. And I'm not sure it will.

no..
well.. yes..
albeit, no.
the loudness. why the fucking loudness? in theory i actually love this new amon tobin album, but what's up with the "push every single instrument to its limits" mentality.
yes, some music actually BENEFITS from loudness. i'm thinking about daft punk, club music in general, in addition to stoner rock (like kyuss, qotsa, boris) and whatever the fuck else is out there. i don't know. some other shit music probably benefits from it too.
point is: DON'T PUSH EACH AND EVERY INSTRUMENT UP TO 99 DB, YOU RETARDED HALF-MAN, HALF-DONKEY PIECE OF STINKING GOO.
i'm on a roll now. oh yeah i'm feeling it, you fucking turd ball. go listen to squarepusher. that's EXACTLY what you should do.
he gets it. he treats instruments (and their frequency ranges) individually in terms of mixing and mastering. he doesn't push every single fucking thing up to 235623623 until it sounds like shit and feels like getting kicked in the head.
no, he doesn't. you know why? because his sound is always GOOD, even when his songs are really shit. REALLY.
that's all for now. as a finale please listen to this 70s master production:
LAZY_TITLE
thank you. fuck you.

a followup to my rant:
it's not THAT loud. i'm basically just jealous at his versatility.
however, i've come to realize the album's not that good either. i certainly appreciate the effort put into it, and it sounds like he's been using kyma and/or max a lot.
he's doing new and interesting things, and i tip my hat to that.
thank you, amon and keep on doing your thang.

I dunno, the album almost sounds like one big intro though production value is very high and all that I don't really know when I would listen to this...which is a very weird statement.
