i've heard it's a bitch to program, but i'm honestly
thinking about getting one. i've been in love with its sound
since the first time i heard theme from ernest borgnine
years and years ago.

there's also this hack which makes things a lot
simpler to program. anyone familiar with it?

thanks for any input.

i've had one for a while.
if you want to do something "intentional" with it, it can be
frustrating/offputting for a long while, but if you just
wanna create weirdness it's very good. it has 2 dinsync
outs, so it's ideal as a link out to, say, a 303 and another
roland drum machine (or 2 drum machines or whatever you
choose).

the sound from the 202 itself is pretty lacking if you've
ever used an sh-101, but it definitely has its uses. it's
got a very gentle, almost bell-like sound to it.

you can also record cv/gate into it (sometimes quite poorly
without any mods, but it works) and edit it further.

it helps writing out pieces if you want create something
intentional with it, either on paper or in a sequencer.

if you're mainly interested in sound, i would definitely
recommend an sh-101 instead. it's just generally a better
synth (in MY opinion, i'm sure people will disagree with me
here) and you'll probably find more use out of it in
general.

thanks to both falito and staz.

yes, i've heard conflicting reports about sh-101 being
better than the mc-202, and the other way around. thanks for
your "reports". much appreciated. nothing better than first
hand reports.

cheers!

The MC-202 is fun to put it on your lappy and just sequence
something, but for intentional use it really is better to
either do the quantize bypass and use the cv gate, or get an
SH-101 :P

isn't there a problem with cv in where the notes that come
in pass through the cpu and there's some sort of off synch?
Maybe someone who have it can explain it better.

the CV gets quantized by the internal sequencer

I'd say go for it (if it's a good price). UR's "Seawolf"
fools a lot of people into thinking it's a 303, but is
actually a 202.

Almost positive this is a 202.

Lots of sweet 202 acid out there.
