A pop star with lots and lots and lots of money or a musician with a lot less money and fame, but far more respect.
I think I'd prefer to be respected, and there's only so much money you need, I think I'd really hate having millions and millions if I'd got it too easily, like I'd inherited it or something.

Well, I'd rather be rich. Respect is something you get from insecure women! ..I think.

Fame is a very visceral (?) thing...whereas having made quality respected music would be with you for the rest of your life.

That's true. Id rather have a small group come see me intimatly (musiclly) than have 40,000 fans roaring. Being a pop star would suck and I have no wish to be famous with lots of money.
I saw that Milli Vinilli thing from Behind the scence on that VH1 show or something? Sad case. They were all famous with more money than they could spend. But how did they feel? Trapped. They felt they couldn't do anythign or say anything. Pretty sad. Fame / lots of money, in the end, does not bring happiness.

But the thing is, these people are so reliant on the public to adore them and basically worship them for what they are not, amazing human beings. They aren't being adored because of their music, they must know its all fake, and that must be the worst part.

BTW, I'm not saying they are all bad people, just victims of their own naiveness as to what would really fulfill them possibly.

I often hope that if I ever see a celeb I would just treat them like any other person

I've decided that I only feel weird when I see a 'celebrity' is because it's slightly unreal to see a person in the street who you've only ever seen before, probably numerous times, on a three foot box. Or a 40 foot screen.

I know I would. Being the rabid fan of Autechre if I ever saw Sean or Rob I wouldn't freak out. I would probably open my eyes lots and go 'oooo' but that's it.
I saw the actor Kevin Costner in real life on a set in a town near us quite awhile ago. We just drove past and were like 'hey there's Kevin Costner'. He's just a human like us really.

Well, I saw rob and sean recently and got pretty excited, mainly I think because I was seeing the people who make *that* kind of music, not because they are famous....but then again, I think some of it would be because they are near 'celebs'. At least those guys have achieved something proper, not that I'm anyone to say what an achievement is..
