Man marries video game character

And an article on the same theme:

Pillow girlfriend

The whole thing reminds me of that documentary Guys and
Dolls.

Japan. Where women have to get on separate traincars at rush
hour to prevent the threat of "Chikan" or the groping of
(often schoolgirl age) females, which has been reported to
have affected 60-70% of students. Where "used underwear"
vending machines exist. Where men want to fuck effigies of
underage cartoon characters.

And most weirdly of all: Where sexual organs are censored in
both animated and real-life pornography.

Apparently the phenomenon isn't restricted to Japan only.

Here's a korean man having a date with his pillow case.

Which one? Marrying video games, or having pillow cases for
girlfriends?

used vending machines DON'T exist and please do not spread
this myth.

there is a shop in tokyo which is selling some but no
vending machines. and nobody in japan ever heard of them.

Not that I trust Snopes as the fact bastion, it does state
that they did at least exist in the past. And my points were
facetious, except for the point about Chikan.

Two marriages?

Once an idea has spread they spread like wildfire. I'm sure
we'll see variations on this whole marriage/pillows thing.

it's just that i was in japan for a whole month in june and
i realised that most of the stuff about this weird stuff was
either existing way back or there were just a few cases.
like those capsule hotels for example. i mean they exist,
but there are like just a few and really uncommon an
expensive.

as i said, i actually found a show with used underwear in
tokyo and even bought a pair for kicks, so i guess it is a
confirmed myth.

Of course. As I said, I was being facetious, I could have
brought up eroge games in the same breath. These are all
subcultures and aren't representative of how much Japanese
people really want tentacles up their cunt. Which is a lot.

i'm just really overreacting after the trip i guess. it's
not really like i want to defend the japanese but i guess i
was just disapointed at times how many of that weird stuff
you hear about japan wasn't particularly true. so i'm lately
allergic to this kind o topics on forums :P

korean man is pregnant!!

ok, fun facts about other countries are great, if theyre
true.
think ive seen the vending machine on telly years ago,
maybe theyre rare or long forgotten.

on french/german culture channel "arte" i saw a japanese
club
yesterday. you have to be single to be member and the goal
is not to find a relationship or anything. its just a
hangout for rejects who dont want to run after love anymore.
it sounded like it was quite successfully spreading.
not very funny, just wanted to drop it here.

I don't get why the "pregnant man" was such a shocking
story, it's not the first female-to-male pregnancy in the
world.

oh, but he did do it for publicity:

"Both the actual wedding space and the livecasting web site
were full on the day of — I'm so happy so many people
were able to witness this. There were over 3,000 connections
and 7,000 comments made online, and the people who showed up
in person at the ceremony also offered their

The man marrying his pillow case is 28 and the man (Nisan)
displayed in the article is 37. I can't find the actual age
for Sal9000, and I'd suspect that he gets paid by Konami,
like dariusgriffin said.

But I wouldn't call any of them young as in "(still)
learning about love".

I watched the linked YouTube vid on the DS love dude... and
I think it's actually quite beautiful. "I love this
character; not the machine.", which is really what love is
about, anyway. The fact that the superficialities aren't
human is a moot point, with regard to love.

And the fact that the game never ends...-- he could really
be truly happy forever. No fights, no bullshit-- just
awesome programming, I suppose.

A soldier goes to war, hundreds of years ago, with his wife
back at home. The soldier dies within a few days, but the
wife does not know and continues to love the husband for
years, awaiting his return. The husband's physicality is
long gone, but the love remains. Because the love was never
about the husband's physicality, per se.

So I believe it's totally possible for one to sincerely love
a computer program, especially if it's able to give human
mental affection. I don't think it's sad that he's in love
with a program-- it's sad that computers are able to compete
with humans when it comes being loved and showing affection.
Or maybe it just shows the simplicity of "the species".

As for Japan subculture... I'm pretty sure there's a used
underwear vending machine like a 10 minute walk where I am
now in Tokyo (at least I saw bloomers). It's in a small
room next to a ramen shop and sells sex toys and dvds etc.
There's no Japanese law against selling adult stuff in
vending machines, but there's a law that states that if the
machine breaks, they aren't allowed to repair it (wtf?).

And I went to high school in Tokyo and have a lot of
Japanese friends, and let me tell you... Japanese subculture
is DEEP. I'm sure a lot of "rumored" things you've heard
about are totally true. Tokyo is awesome, but also fucked,
depending on your perspective. Capsule hotels have been
replaced by internet cafes. I'm at one now, and there's
always people sleeping here. It's less than $15 US for 8
hours, and less than $25 for 12, so it's a lot cheaper than
any hotel. Bathroom

for an internet forum of nerds it took quite long to take a
turn to a.i. discussion. how could an a.i. truely love you?
realistically the next step in rubber dolls will probably be
personalized and randomized dirty talk. cant wait to hear
the ceiling needs a new painting or wrong hole, wrong hole.
