Advice on a painting!

I'm doing this painting and It's supposed to be done by
tomorrow, It's in oils, but I can get them to dry pretty
fast by using Copal mediums and liquin etc.

painting of Doom

I'm just wondering if the gold shouldn't be laid on as
thick, if it's should be glased over the masks, to give it
less of a heavily painted look.

I was originally trying to go for that very thin, rembrandt
- velasquez type application of paint, but i'm not sure
which way to go on it.

It's a painting of 7 MF Doom masks that I'm doing for a
class and a showing for tomorrow.
Any thoughts?

*and if instead, it should be glazed over the masks*

Darken the area around the other masks like you did with the
gold one.

Yah, pretty cool, mang.

I think the "gold" emphasizes the middle mask enough, that
the dark surrounding parts on the gold mask could be less
dark, so it shares the same effect as the others of "coming
out of the shadows" kind of thing. If that's the effect
you're going for, the bottom parts of the gold mask could be
painted like the others and fade into gold, so it gives the
illusion that light is making it "come to form" or
whatever.

The red underpainting showing through is definitely a plus,
like on the left side of the gold mask, which also gives the
illusion of reflected light (and it's a nice realism
abstraction).

For extra realism, you could pop a bit of specular highlight
on bits, like under the right eye of the gold mask area.

Oh!- if you were intending to paint all the masks gold... I
think it's actually really cool, as is, haha...

What kind of painting class are you taking? (cool, yo)

...and I just realized the MF Doom mask looks like Ultraman
had a baby with Gundam.

You could printout the old-version jpeg on cheap computer
paper and say you painted it... But be really serious about
it.

it reminds me of analord binder but DOOM style. That would
be sweet if he made an anaord type compilation of raw beats
