this is what having no brakes does

LAZY_TITLE

I was told it needed stitches, but im going to try and treat
myself on this one. Been in enough accidents to figure out
how to take care of a wound. Luckily I didnt hit my head
this time.

yeh you should get proper treatment for the knee at least.
my right knee looked very similar after i fell off a
motorcycle in 2003, rubbed off a good portion of the skin,
and deep. Didn't care too much. It left a large, ugly scar.

Congs for riding a bike without brakes lol,

gutted.

i thought this may be pics of the crash in motion.

like a mid air, flying body, face of fear shot with much
slapstick hilarity showing you anticipate the body slam into
a wall wrapped in bike parts.

seriously though, get some brakes.

Wash that shit out and put neem oil on it, which might be
able to prevent significant scarring.

I dont ride fixed mohawmed, thats too gay for me. Single
speed, no coaster or hand brake. Cars can suck my d.

About infection, I'm washing it and packing it full of
neosporin. Its deeper than any other nug of flesh I've had
nicked out of me before, but it looks like its healing oer
fine. Luckily the elbow are (some call it a wenis) is a
totally nerve free, and unnecessary flap of skin. If
anyhting it'll leave a sweet scar.

I've been in for stitches before, and although I know
docotrs need to be paid too, I'm not about to sit around and
be swen up for $2,000 when I can easily ride on and wrap a
soaked bandana around it to stay tight and right.

Freqy, my palms were okay. got a nasty big bruise up my left
leg and some road rash on my hip/stomach. It's a pain to
stand up, but my mind will drift from that and going about
the day becomes easier.

Dude, you ride a freewheel bike without brakes? You're
fucking crazy. Stick a brake on it, or you'll kill
yourself.

And your chains loose. Pop round to my place and I'll sort
it out for you.

offline swift_jams from big sky on 2010-06-09 04:50 [#02383203]
Points: 7577 Status: Lurker

That was taken right after I put my single speed spacer kit
on, so the chain has been shortened since then. I had a
H4t0r bR4k3 on it where the back brke lever was on the
seatpost instead of the handlebar. Unfortunatley my brake
pads dont reach the rim on that back wheel. I can always
stick my foot in the tire if I need to slow down about, but
I figure I might as well just barrel through instead of
being a wimp.

Just adjust the brake cable! Your "alternative" braking
methods do not seem to be working!

You crazy kids and your mad cycling ways!

I've swapped to a single speed for the commute into work
three times a week.... far more enjoyable than my roadie
for the 14km ride... hard work uphill on the way home.....
46-17 and i bought myself a pair of nitto RB-021 bullhorns!
:)

hang on a minute, you ride without brakes? aughh.. you
should be careful.. damn man

The calipers are too small to reach the rim I should say.

Very nice gearing! Uphill would be cake with that! I'm
riding 52 16. How far is your commute though? I'm thinking
of buying those same exact bars actually whaddyaknow.

Careful as can be, larney.

offline darkpromenade from Australia on 2010-06-09 05:54 [#02383207]
Points: 2777 Status: Regular

My commute is 8.75 miles each way. 52 16 is nice and tall!
You would have been flying when you came off!

Make sure you change your stem to something really short
when you get the bullhorns. You'll feel WAY stretched out
compared to your flat bar. I went to a 60mm stem and it
feel just ok. Cranking up short pinch climbs out of the
saddle or sprinting through traffic feels great!

Tecktro bar end levers will fit in the RB-021's, so you can
sort your braking issues out at the same time! Get a cheap
caliper!

Do you have a threadless fork? I want to see a picture of
your bike.

offline darkpromenade from Australia on 2010-06-09 06:35 [#02383214]

yeah, I have a threadless fork 1 1/8" steerer.

My bikes just a SE lager, cheap and nasty, swapped it for an
old beat up car. I don't have any pics, but it's ugly as
hell with brown paint and shitty cranks. I would love to
spend some more coin on it but we're flat broke at the
moment, having bought a new house and a new car for the wife
in the last two months.

Hey at least you wont have to worry about anyone trying to
steal it! As long as it gets you where you need, I say its
better than paying for gas. Not to mention to new change in
scenery on your rides and a positive health factor.

Mohammed, healthcare is free for DIY'ers.
