The video to the new MIA single is supposed to have some deep political message. I think thats obvious bullshit, the video is there to accumulate attention through threads like this one, even if it means negative attention. What the director does, is exploiting the political aspects, by turning war and violence into something consumable, which he can make money off. Of course one can do this. And a talented director would be able to produce something of value, but this is not the case here. The director obviously had no ideas, so he filmed just a few actions scenes, and relied on dumb shock of effects. Lets also not talk about the latent antisemitism that can be found here, which the director is not aware of, becausee he has political opinion of a 16 year old. |
