I want to send an electronica mix CD to my grandpa who is a
Jazz Lover in California. I doubt he will like it but I
think he will be interested to hear it and at least think
highly of my tastes when I send him some of the jazzy
squarepusher stuff. Show him the future of jazz or
something. He will actually think that kids music is
getting better, because he will figure whatever I listen to
is what kids listen to nowadays. It wont help to explain to
him that I know 1000 people for every 1 person who would
enjoy my music...

anyway if you could tell me albums/tracks of the jazziest
squarepusher stuff (even if you don't like it) I would
appreciate it.

I played some []<- to a friend who is a jazz drummer and he
allmost had an orgasm and went out and bought all his
records.

You should allso send some Yesterdays New Quintet to your
grandpa.

Music is Rotted One Note is a strong record, jazzy or not!
I think it's extremely under-appreciated.

Music is Rotten One Note is unbelievable Put Dont Go Plastic
on there, My Sound, EZ Boogie, Squarepusher Theme, all of
these have probably been mentioned already. But also, if you
want to get into new jazz listen to Medeski Martin and Wood.
very very good, bass keyboards and drums(maybe one of the
best drummers around now), sometimes turntables

ok:
Two Bass Hit (DUB)
papalon
e8 boogie
squarepusher theme
the swifty
don't go plastic
dust switch

1rst track off feed me weird things (squarepusher theme, i
believe) is pretty jazzy and not too weird sounding for a
grandpa, id say.

Budakhan yes

the thing about jazzy idm is that it often lacks a
reaccuring melody
even []pusher;s shit, the melody doesn;t go much past the
bass
a friend of mine;s father is an oldskule jazz head, he liked
it but thought it shoulda been pushed more musically
i dunno
electro could be the future of jazz
but i think maybe that;s just starting

I agree, and I think that semi-colons are the future of
apostrophes! :)

i'd definitely put on a lot of music is rotted one note,
along with some of the jazzier selection sixteen tracks.
there's also plenty of lovely, jazzy tracks on feed me weird
things and hard normal daddy, especially hard normal. that's
just such a wicked album.
