SOMETHING SHOCKING

i have something to tell you..
...something that may SHOCK and SURPRISE YOU!

..and that thing is as follows:

i have never actually "bought" an Aphex Twin CD.
all that i have is downloaded and burnt

there... i said it..
..i hope i dont lose any respect from you guys.. please dont
ban me!

anyways, heres the big question:
WHICH APHEX CDs SHOULD I BUY FIRST?

ive heard almost all.. so im not asking which is the best..
..but which releases would be most worth spending money on,
for the better sound quality (than mp3), perhaps cover art,
or just that "legitamitly owned" feeling......... and other
factors like that?

for example SAW 1 i think ill just burn.. i dont think im
missing as much sound quality there as i am from other
works..

music is music, who cares how you get it. i don't
understand why mp3's are so bad

but ya, my favorite artists like aphex i will buy there
album in respect. half of my aphex twin collection is mp3,
because i can't buy it here. if he released an album
tomarrow i would def. buy it. but downloading is so much
faster than ordering an album. when i want a song then i
want it right there aand then. thats the beuty of mp3's.

factors:
There isn't much of a bigger difference on legitamate copies
as opposed to mp3s on any particular album.
Cover art you can judge for yourself, its in the discography
section.
As for the legitamtely-owned feeling, personally, I only get
that with vinyl, and albums that are timeless, like shaped
my musical interest.

If you've heard 'em all just get the one that has the most
tracks you like. Pretty simple. If you want someone to
tell you, I say that no fan should be without a legitamite
copy of ICBYD, Come to Daddy, and RDJ Album.

mp3s arent bad at all. the only artists that deserve to have
their CDs bought are independant artists, like The Shizit. I
bought all 3 of their cds/demos, I ordered them, because
they are independant and deserve to have their shit bought.

Something that may shock you AMinal and others is that I too
have just got mp3s stored on my computer of the Aphex
music...but what I'm sure you'll find even more shocking is
that I don't really care for the music, its a bit strange
for my liking!!

Which might lead you to think why do I post here? Well I was
introduced to this site last Autumn (Fall) by a good friend
(CeriJC) and I just liked the topics of conversations that
go on here - quite insightful, I really enjoy this place.
Some of you guys are like distant friends and relatives that
I've never seen - because I seem to know you so well, and
I've really tried to like some of the stuff but, but most of
it all sounds too similar (sorry Ceri..) Don't get me wrong
I like a couple of the tracks on SAW1 and SAW2 but ..... not
for me!

*Jedi Chris starts running from the Aphex fans who are
brandishing pitch forks and burning torches!!*

Yeah, I've been meaning to confess as well...I fucking hate
Aphex & I only buy his stuff cause it makes me look cool...

(some of the above may not be true...can you really trust a
guy who wears a AFX tshirt to bed?..)..

:)..

No need to run, Jedi Chris..We still love ya even if you
hate the twin..

to answer your question...get saw2...it's great...and if
your into weed, it's even better because you can have little
mini quests to figure out the track listings when your
stoned. id' try and get the vynal first, failing that, the
UK version, failing that the american version...but i
strongly sugest the UK version over the US...we're missing
tracks...

Does anyone remeber those TOTP albums you used to get in
Woolworths in the 70s/80s?...they always had some old Crack
Hag from Fiesta on the front cover & a free poster of the
same inside...

The best thing was they were all cover versions and not the
orginals...I can recall being real gutted when someone
pointed this out to me (I was only 8)...think they were done
by KTEL or someone similar...

Going back to my posting, I don't want anyone to think that
I am 'dissing' your taste in music.....it's just not for
me!

If you notice, I have never posted anything when music is
really being discussed here, mostly because I had never
heard of 'anything' that you guys were talking about - and
some of it I still am not sure of. Good example, I thought
Fruity Loops was some kinda breakfast cereal!! I enjoy
reading the topics that are music driven....but usually
don't have a clue what you guys are on about..

But I just enjoy the chats with people here - its you the
people that make this message board an interesting place,
and as long as you guys don't mind that, I'll keep coming
back!

They've even re-issued those albums on CD which is a bit
strange. I guess a whole new generation can have access to
seedy wank material in the apparently innocent guise of a
CD. Clever.
