reverb vsts

i've always had a weak spot for the adobe audition 3.0
reverb vsts. i believe they've been made by izotope, and
they mostly produce quality.

however, the fucking vsts cannot be used with any other DAW.
i hate audition (except the vsts) and i just can't find any
good replacements.

suggestions?

I still use the Classic Reverb nowadays. It's free which is
a good thing, and i think it's high in quality. But what
exact feel of reverb are you looking for?

well that's the problem of it all. i don't claim to be an
expert on vsts or anything (and it's also a question of
taste, mind), but i simply haven't heard anything i like
quite as much as the audition vsts.

the thing about them is that they're extremely customizable.
you can really adapt them to your needs, you know? yet, (and
this is important) they don't sound "super digital".

so, i'm looking for something customizable and "real".

yo.

wow that was dumb.

anyway i use either Ableton's reverb which is pretty nice,
but i like outboard stuff, i have these 2 things which are
pretty cool and give a nice color to the sound when properly
used. -

except the ME-50 is really only of value if you have it
setup correctly with a mixer, or else it squashes everything
being a mono-unbalanced effect unit.

Depends on your price range, access to warez, or access to
rich friends studios.

The new lexicon native reverb bundle is excellent. Most
natural sounding VST reverb I have heard.

D16 has a reverb that has a lot of charm, however I wouldn't
call it professional sounding per se.

2caudio has an excelent reverb with many different kind
options, but its almost too complicated.

Audio damange makes a bunch of different reverbs. They all
seem highly rated, but I am not sold on audio damage stuff.

If I can think of any others, I will add more to this
thread.

Yah, for Mac fanz, Apple's Matrix Reverb is surprisingly
really good for a freebie.

VST... FREEVERB 4EVA---.

No but- After using convolution reverb plugins, generalized
reverb plugins feel so much colder and lack depth of
character. The simulated nuances of tonal variation (at
various freq) that the reverb is given by "a room", results
in a strong sense of ambience, 3-dimensionality, and
lushness.

I now mostly use generalized reverb plugins for low-latency
live playing or to round something out in a manner where
perceived depth is unimportant.

That being said, I used to simulate rooms by having multiple
tracks of the same audio, each with different
bandpass-filter settings, and each with a "generic reverb",
but tuned to emulate what kind of freq response I wanted
with the reverb (a padded room or a metal walled room,
etc.).

So föking solid things can be done with random shit
reverbs, if you do a little manual labor, but straight outta
the box... hard to find a good reverb (that doesn't cost
something stupid).

THhaahahaaahaaat being said, I used to use like a jillion
different free reverbs, and they're MOSTLY actually pretty
good. just..... can't compete with non-free convolution
reverbs.

Audio Ease Altiverb is bloody fantastic and very
customizable.
