navel of the waters

(it's a remix of an old track made into a new track)

enjoy!

really lush bells, the production is really fantastic - i am
definitely enjoying the synth work. the gull sample?
absolutely! the progression is really good.

the main melodic themes of the song work for me, and i am
usually quite picky about notes. i really quite like the
whole thing.

~did you get that echo hit sample going in a track yet?

The kick is good but the rest of it sounds like a Bjork
Vespertine reject track. It's 'nice'.

how do you get that cool sound that i would have to say is
resemblant to someone zipping up a jacket?

I liked the oriental style bells melodies, it sounds fresh
as a whole. The bass at the start is a bit muddy on my
speakers. Good work.

corticalstim, JiverDicker, swift_jams, khrimson, thanks for
listening.

swift_jams: if we're thinking of the same sound, that
sound's from a kit that i played around with, but it
shouldn't be too hard to emulate/copy. try taking a sample
with a clicking sound or something and just arrange it
together like a very fast drum roll/snare rush. maybe play
around with the pitch.

corticalstim: i've been messing around with the echo hit,
but nothing has stroke a chord with me yet. i'm still
waiting for that moment of inspiration.

This is quite pretty, i only have a couple of criticisms. I
think as a whole production wise it sounded like you used
too much compression and maybe the bells were just a notch
too loud for my taste as well. Compostion wise i felt it
started quite well but I started to zone out half way
through. I think this might be due to the fact that
melodically it isn't quite engaging enough.

thanks, Skink. yeah, i'll admit i'm experimenting a bit with
the compression, infact the whole mastering process. finding
a proper balance between headphones and speakers is almost a
science unto itself.
