Autechre rely heavily on elektrons other two machines - think they will go for a bit of sampling??

There are some really bad videos of it on youtube. The chap using it clearly hasn't got a clue.
I like how they think "An Octatrack, a Machinedrum and a Monomachine will be the ideal gear combo" O RLY?
I don't scrutinise Autechre like some people, but I imagine they probably have plenty of samplers already. I don't really understand why this is good, at least not from the videos anyway.
I have three samplers and I'm not wowed by this. Samples aren't static if done properly (see LAZY_TITLE).
If this is just a loop tweaker box, I'd much rather use my SP303. It doesn't sound like it can do multisamples, so doesn't beat my S5000.
In built sequencer might be cool, but again I have an MPC!

i tend to agree looking at the videos that have been posted of it - which make it look like a useless piece of crap... BUT - elektron machines are usually very diverse and I'd still be interested to see what someone with some skill could do with this box after a while using it.
true, it probably isnt like most samplers, but i dont think it is trying to be... time will tell i guess.

Any time new gear is introduced a bunch of people make criticisms about it. Its not worth worrying about. Eventually half of them will continue to dis it, and the other half with decide they want one. Life goes on.

Have you watched the videos? Totally dire. If the box is amazing they should get someone to show it off.
I've got an open mind, but based on the evidence it looks poor.
Show me a good video of it!

Because you have used this extensively first hand, and can say for certain without a shadow of a doubt that it is exactly the same experience as other elektron gear.
I haven't heard anyone criticizing elektron gear in general. I have heard people criticising this particular piece of elektron gear. Personally, I think elektron kind of assumed too much in bringing a sampler to the market.

i'd imagine the fun with this machine will be in mangling sample start/stop position, pitch/length (probably with a variety of stretching algorithms) and retrig with the parameter locks. Beat syncing layers like in ableton is clearly possible and would be useful for straight up djing but apart from time stretching and increased sample memory i'm yet to be convinced.
as an aside, the +drive memory expansion upgrade for more than £300 is ridiculous.

the closest elektron have to sampling is on the newer versions of the machien drum, which had a rediculously small amount of sample memory (a couple of MBs only) for very short samples.
I'm led to believe that even with just a few meg memory sampling using the elektron style sequencer with parameter locks was incredible fun.
I imagine the new sample takes this to the extreme.
And yeah, elektron products are majorly overpriced, but thats what you get from small companies with relatively small product lines.
