Do they listen their own IDMs?

I was thinking about Kettel today, whilst listening to it.
I started thinking about all the work that goes into making
the music and how cool and original it is. But then I began
to think about how many musicians who are talented and stuff
don't make enough money to get sustain themselves
financially just from making music.

Now, we all know that AFX listens to his own music, cos
there isn't a lot else in existence that he likes and his
music is fucking brilliant, so I can't blame him. Also, when
he listens he can (though I doubt he does) think about all
the money he is making from the music too. Sadly this is not
the case for most IDM artists, though. So do you think that
some musicians don't like to listen to their music cos it
reminds them of how much they put into it and and how little
financially they get out of it? Or do they just listen to it
cos they enjoy it, without attaching connotations of what
they have tried to achieve with it and perhaps they won't
enjoy it cos it takes so much effort and work to create?

Obviously we can't answer these questions for certain, but I
can ask the people on here who make music if they listen to
their own music and their thoughts on this subject.

Why would I make music if I didn't want to listen to it?

Kinda of a by-product of a curious, creative mind, I guess.
Dunno...

Like shitting or having a wank. Just something you gotta do.
There is nothing sacred about being creative. It's
instinctive, I think.

I don't wank because I have to, I wank because it makes my
toes curl with pleasure. Also, I don't keep my shits and
play with them at a later date (often).

I listen to my own music but i never bring it on me on my
mp3 player for example. Besides i've heard the song SO damn
much by then i'd be bored of it.

If my music was financially viable I'd just be ashamed.

I make music for the sake of listening to it. if I could
never listen to the music I made after it was done I would
stop doing it.

i also just play with sounds, i'm not really a full achieved
artist like others on XLT but i do have some tracks and i
enjoy listening here and there

i have loads of scrap book stuff, recorded jam sessions and
the like...

but honestly i love going back and playing some old track i
did 6 years ago, or playing some drum loops i had made which
were never used...

the other day i found loads of Aif files of various loops,
sounds and strange recordings which i can't even remember
doing. some weird stuff in there

might upload some stuff later, always good for a laugh
