i think you should date a chinese girl, Japanese are not as easy to get on with because they are higher maintenance... another good thing is they are open to new things, i played some electronic music to Ying and she liked it, i played the tuss and boards of canada, she had never heard stuff like it before, but was interested.. and she agrees to try new things with me, like for example, i want to go snowboarding next winter, and she wants to try :) |

it's about frequency and experience, that's how you can generate opinions of different cultures if i told you that americans are more assertive and louder than Japanese, would that be too broad an opinion? or would you agree? you can to a certain extent have broad opinions of entire races based on your experience of being in that country, the longer you are there, the more those opinions start to solidify another interesting 'broad' observation i had, is that chinese people are less emotionaly expressive. they don't often show public displays of affection. and you will find this is similar in japan and taiwan, it's not common for 2 friends to hug each other. But over here we do! ...so i can easily say something like, "Chinese people are less emotionaly expressive than westerners" that's a very broad satement isnt it? but because i know from being in China, i can sum up the whole race as being that way. And i'm sure Japanese people think that westerners are more openly expresive than they are, again very broad opinion, but it's true . there are shy americans, there are loud expressive japanese people, but it's fine to make a gerneralization based on frequency. But when you get onto finer details, thens sure, not all chinese girls will enjoy listening to 'the tuss' but my point was that chinese girls are curious and keen to experience western things, could be music, food, films etc and i can definetely say this is true! |

oh it's alright tractern, i argued about western vs eastern women in another thread, the main point of the argument was the comparison, i was saying that chinese women make better wifes, because they have a more traditional view on marriage, ie respect for men, family, loyalty etc etc, indeksikal and svalx both stressed that people are the same all over the world and that you can't label a whole race as being a certain way. i agree with this partly, there are bad people all over the world, but my counter argument is that my opinion is based on frequency, ie: research, experience, general knowledge and understanding of history/human phychology My opinions are subjective, of course there are men who want fiery dominant women with high demands ie: nice car, good job, big house etc.. but i don't fit with that, i see beauty in other ways, i can see a good heart in a poor girl from china, and i feel a more human connection despite the language barrier. btw Ying likes the tuss, BOC, arovane, some older aphex twin, but she doesn't like autechre, squarepusher, or anything too dark and scary... i think you're right, she should listen to more ambient chilled music at first |
