Dr Slump and the first Dragon Ball are good. Dr Slump is
very funny and i rate it as Toriyama's best work. Dragon
Ball Z is so fucking boring i just don't get it.

Nausicaä is great. I have a collection of shorts by
Miyazaki that is just wonderful.

Yes i get embarassed to say i love manga. People go "oh you
like naruto?"
The spikey hair and endless battle cliché. Manga is so much
more.

I agree, 99% of manga is just awful, and it's usually the
shit ones that gain huge popularity.

I could recommend a shit load of awesome manga. We should
meet up on slsk someday.

Also i apologise for my rough entrance into this thread. I
do enjoy some of the more mainstream mangas too.

Magma [from Greek μάγμα, paste] is
molten rock that is found beneath the surface of the Earth,
and may also exist on other terrestrial planets.

i read akira some ten+ years ago which was excellent,
but sadly i cannot recommend any manga other at all...

i like the cyberpunk genre, but its rather hard to find a
pure one. like many other genres this one is also heavily
contaminated by schol life and other contemporary crap.
anyone know a decent one?

original battle angel alita was gorey and one of the best i
found so far, despite being a bit simple. some of Tsutomu
Nihei´s stuff seems quite interesting at first look, but i
havent had the chance yet to give it a full read.

grabbed a few used volumes of vagabond in the store, which
appears to be worth reading too. that however is quite a
long series which i dont plan to invest in.

I was so tempted to post "I like Ninja Scrolls, Ghost in the
Shell (the first one), Perfect Blue and Akira. Other than
that, I enjoy watching it from an aesthetics and animation
point of view, but don't really think it's good
storytelling." as a subtle troll, but then I remembered I am
a mod.

Manga is not to be confused with anime. Akira blew my mind
when it came out. Wow.

ホムンクルス

I'm reading trough volume 3 atm, the story is sinister and I
like it for that.

Another one of my favourites I discovered online is Uzumaki,
an horror manga about spirals

of course I've read akira, best manga ever.

Uzumaki is ace. Most Junji Ito is worth a check but Uzumaki
is his best work.

I recommend stuff by Usamaru Furuya for his many styles and
fun view on things and Hideshi Hino for pure horror.
