I was pondering something strange the other day, and since I value the feedback on the V5...
We're matter and energy, so when we die all we really lose is some matter(the body) so it would seem that our individual energy would remain through this metamorphis.........

how would it remain? in some floating ball of light or something? i think not... our energy is contained in our physical bodies and is decomposed and spread out when we die..
and moves on in other forms, elsewhere in the universe after all: energy is never created or destroyed, only changes form
i dont think we have some clearly defined soul or spirit that would continue wondering around in some other form...

indeed - identity has quite a static sort of tone to it - doesn't address the maleable/dynamic nature of one's "identity" - :)

Argh, it's post like these that make me head hurt...
I wonder if a ''spirit'' or whatever exists... or am I just a brain filled with personality and identity defining chemicals and other crap, residing in some exoskeleton.

I wish I COULD explain it... I kind of want to die, just so I can see what happens afterwards.
Also, I REALLY want to see a ghost... a REAL one... I want to be chased through a haunted house by a dead zombie, stuff like that. Death is cool.

Eh, death is not cool, its not a good feeling i get when i think about it.
Seriously, if you just died, and that was it, blackness, emptyness, how wrong is that? That doesnt make sense to me, there must, MUST be something else, i cant prove it but thats my idea of faith.
This is how i feel - who put my mind in my body, ophecks mind in ophecks body, etc? Who physically decided which mind would be put in which specific body? How can that be completely random???? Think about it.

i think your mind develops with your body after all, you weren't born w/ the same mental identity you have now, were u?
you opinions, likes, dislikes, loves, beliefs, personality traits, etc... all develop over time
this would suggest that they are the products of your enviroment, and weren't just built into you before you were born
of course genetics plays a role... but so does enviroment and besides, genetics is just chemistry, isn't it? IMO

of course,,,,your mind isnt developed, but still, the possibility for it is there and even so, at birth you are still concsious wiht a specific mind and identity.
i dont know man, this is really hard to explain for me. i guess im not really talking about a mind,,,,maybe more like a soul? Really though, how am i me, and not you? I feel their must be something greater.

According to Einstein's special theory of relativity, matter and energy are different manifestations of the same thing. So I'd say there's no "energy" or "soul" left over, it's all recycled. Maybe reincarnation isn't so kooky after all.
