ok, im my music class we are doing a tiny mini-unit on
electronic music
(relax, keep ur pants on its not the afx kind of electronic
music..)

...its more about all these big experimental OLD people who
pioneered electronic music.... like back in the 50s,60s,
that sort of stuff
like the people who built synths n shit

ANYWAYS:
she said we could bring something in and share it...
.....*BIG EVIL APHEX GRIN* :-}

any recommendations?
(i mean really abstract, really experimental stuff that will
be something they've never heard before.. that pushes music
....either make them say: "but its just noise!" or make
their heads implode)

afx, squarepusher, autechre (especially autechre!)....
anything!

bucephalus or nanou, the only true innovations that aphex
has done that a lot of people haven't heard. Hopefully they
will be blown away + they'll like the trax.

Forbidden planet is the first soundtrack with purely
electric music but that will be boring to other
students.....

You must go confield, and I'd say Pen Expers.

pita - get out [mego]
florian hecker - [OT] xackypy breakpoint

hecker's cd contains in-audible frequencies, so if you turn
up the volume, you risk melting the speakers [really
strange, you see them vibrate but you don't hear nothin] ..
kinda glitchy/minimal .. pita is a lot more in your face,
where he relies on shock value to entertain - both VERY
electronic ?

maybe some pansonic [they built their own synth, quite a mad
thing]

I'm listening to the Gescom Minidisk at the moment. This
disc is purely experimental electronic. I recommend taking
that.

It's not that experimental. All these experiments have been
done 50 years ago! Sometimes it's failed experiments
repeated, sometimes it's cool, that's it really.

merzbow would be cool, saw him live 2 days ago, really
-ahem- experimental.

give 'em confield / bine, it's their most agrassive and
advanced track.
befriend a childkiller has this very let's say childish
beginning (only imo)
or maybe Zeiss Contarex - at least music where the focus is
not on the melody since they ought to hear something new.
the minidisc idea is cool either.

Experimental Audio Research - 'Data Rape'. Any track will
do. The record is made with 8 modified Speak N Spell toys,
through circuit bending etc.

It is just noise, although track 6 is more catchy than the
others :)
