the american version is far inferior, but not as bad as i
thought it'd be; even quite funny in places. this is old
news btw. no one likes america, or american remakes.

Dag, have you given the UK (ORIGINAL) version a proper
chance, or just watched half an episode, then stwitched it
off?

It is something which grows on you and even if you think you
get it from watching the American version you won't, cos the
British one is so different.

Very different types of comedy. I'd say you have to watch
both even if the US version gets fucking horrible in later
seasons with Pam and Jim thingy.

they're both great, obviously the UK series is the better
one but the US version surprised me,

for anyone who was a fan of life on mars, check the abysmal
ending of the dreadful american remake. its fucking
unreal. it was actually a mission to mars. its insulting

Why don't you all take a lovely picture tour of my
hometown of Slough, the setting for The Office.

I tell no lies when I say that: in Slough High Street, there
is a phrase put into the floor tiles by the council which
reads "beauty you can only see with your eyes closed."

Christ, that was bad. It could not have seemed any more
shoehorned in, especially some of the lines.

It's going to be a good...GENE HUNT... I cleverly
signposted that it will be a GENE HUNT because I'm so
good at writing. GENE HUNT

only the first season was a remake, and it's become totally
different to the uk one in the recent seasons. it's great,
the marriage one where they did the youtube chris brown
thing had me tearing up. i love dwight "in an ideal world i
would have all 10 fingers on my left hand and my right hand
would be a fist for punching", løl

heh.

the american office isn't bad, from what i've seen and
everyone says that its gone off its own way which is good -
i guess the chip on my shoulder is that america has enough
talent to make its own original comedy and has offered many
great exports, so remaking shit is just lazy. same with
hollywood stealing ideas from world cinema and taking a
happy ending on.

I agree with most of what you say there. Only thing I'd like
to throw out there is that The Office US is really not as
lazy as you think, because artistic integrity was not the
show's goal. The Office resonates with a huge percentage of
the American people (the whole "I can relate that person in
The Office to that person I work with" thing). The talent in
making the show involved, originally, skillful
re-adaptation. A straight "rip off" of The Office wouldn't
have worked in the States because people here are, for the
most part, too brain dead to appreciate British humor.

only the Ricky G is funny on the English office, everyone
else is gross looking and very boring/lame. the english
version has way more funny stuff, and even the ugliest
peoplle on the cast are still better looking than what the
english consider to be hot.

You just stuck a knife right in to my patriotic British
heart, which remains beating only through my love for the
crown.

I'll never laugh again.

The UK version was great. The US version is quite viewable.
If not only for Steve Carrell.

I still chuckle at the Knock Knock joke scene with Dwight if
I think about it.

I'm not a brit, but i prefer the UK version to the US
version. I've watched every episode of both.

I'm just sick of jim and pam's cutesy shit. They should have
never got together, all the tension between them now has to
do with financial issues or problems with the in-laws. The
show would be better without them at this point. I like Tim
and Dawn much more.

David Brent had a depth of character that Michael Scott does
not, but I still like both bosses.

Office US does have better supporting cast though, in
Dwight, Andy, Kevin, Angela and Stanley.
