Acid attacks continue in Hong Kong

quote

An individual or group is causing mayhem in Hong Kong by
hurling plastic bottles filled with acid into busy shopping
streets filled with pedestrians. It's happened six times in
the last year, most recently over the weekend. From CNN:
Shopkeeper Khan Mohammed Bilal runs an electronics store,
and he was working Saturday night when he heard the
commotion. He stepped out into the intersection of Temple
Street and Nanking Street and saw chaos.
Someone had just thrown two plastic bottles of acid into the
intersection. He saw one person's red bag soaked with acid.
He said he couldn't imagine what would've happened if the
acid had splashed onto the person's head. He saw injured
people crying.

"We do get nervous. We do feel scared. When this happens, it
affects our business... I don't know the purpose of this,
why this person is throwing this liquid."

they use it against women's face when they're too beautiful,
or too emancipated to accept a combined marriage

:(

Maybe it's the only way that the dehumanised people of China
feel they can express their frustration at feeling like
robots.

There was a documentary about her experience that aired on
Channel 4 a few months ago - it's horrifying how much this
girl's life has changed, she is afraid of anyone she does
not know, and rarely leaves the house.

I really dunno why they are throwing the acid.

Says the acid is often thrown in areas where there are
tourists. Maybe some misguided Chinese anger at tourism?

What do you you reckon robbie?

but honestly, it's quite hard to understand how, while there
are so many of them, the chinese folks haven't stood up
against their government yet - "stood up" = revolution-wise.
is it their chillout philosophy of life ? are they that
peaceful ? they don't need freedom/change ? someone pls
explain

it gives people bad ideas.? maybe so?.

imagine being born into a world with out violent Hollywood
movies, a world without history of war and terrorism liker
this shi*e.

Do you think people bvorn to this clean world would be more
mellow? or there'd be loads of experimenting in terrorism
because history has no record of it before?

according to that site there were almost 500 acid attack
victims in 2002! Shitting fuck, didn't realise it was that
big a problem!

Looks like the attacks are easing off now though. I guess
it's not as fashionable no more...
