My friend rented it and said it was good up until some
horribly illogical sequences, presumably somewhere toward
the middle. Probably still worth playing.

i'm not sure what he means by "horribly illogical sequences"
since a game is usually filled with illogical sequences, it
does however have LOTS of pointless platforming half way
through that gets boring quickly.

GAME
OF
THE
YEAR.

Seriously, it's fantastic. I understand peoples problems
with some of the pacing, it does flick between stealth, full
on action and platforming at the drop of a hat, but by god
when it's good it's absolutely stunning. The opening train
escape, the battle with the helicopter, that huge fuck off
temple puzzle, the train level, the level jumping from lorry
to lorry as you rocket through mountains, the attack on the
village, inside the mountain with your guide who doesn't
speak any english, the whole of Shambala.

Really well written, in fact the best written and acted game
I've played. It may nick a lot from movies but it comes
together in a package almost as sublime as Raiders of the
Lost Ark, taking all these cues and moulding them, thanks to
great characters, in to something special.

The multiplayer is great.

The tech on display is mind boggling and Naughty Dog have
made little advances that we hardly notice that will open so
many possibilities in gaming. No loading after the initial
load?! Without a hefty install?! As we jet from one side of
the fucking world to another?!?! The train level!?!?!? THAT
COLLAPSING BUILDING!?!?!?

I love it.

And if your friend is talking about what I think they are
talking about, it really threw me too but gets revealed as
smoke and mirrors later on.
