LAZY_TITLE is the best in my opinion. But don't take my word
for it.

I might go for the delta, but thats just me.

I wouldn't choose the analogue, because thats a MFOS synth,
which can probly be obtained for cheaper off the website
provided you spend some time soldering. If it fails, you
will need to learn that yourself anyway, which it very well
could, because you have no way to varify the skill of the
person who put it together.

I wouldn't choose the JX3P, because I have owned one once.
While it is a good synth, the lack of instant access to
parameters gets kind of tiresome.

Super JX. Can't say much about this; seems to be kind of a
run of the mill roland 80's super polysynth. Lack of
parameters are going to get kind of annoying, but the string
sounds will more than make up for it. That said, string
sounds will only get you so far.

There are house downpayments smaller than that.

Recently I got into testing out VAs and I think AAS ultra
analog is the best. Fucking awesome sound. It's free if you
steal it.

thanks, but do you think the delta sounds too thin? it seems
like the filter gets really squelchy, but bad squelchy if
you know what i mean?

Ah. It sounded korglike. It doesn't sound bad, IMO, but it
might not be to your taste. Watch some videos on youtube, it
will give you an idea if thats the synth that you want.

The reason i'm leaning toward a JX is because of the midi.
And i wouldn't mind getting a PG 800 to mess with the
controls easier

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2009-12-14 20:58 [#02351363]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker

yeah, but those controllers cost nearly as much as the synth
does in this market, and something does get lost in the
translation.

But if thats the one you want, then you should get it. I
would not get the jx3p tho. The midi is brutally privative
on that thing and almost useless..

that synth is awesome. Too bad non floating around on ebay
or craigslist. Probably wouldn't be in the $300 range
either.

turns up dirt cheap in the usa on craigslist
keep your eye out for it... if you like :-)

sx210 is similar but no midi

do you think this would be an easy solder/d.i.y. fix issue?
JX-3P

It's 75 bucks! But the middle-C key doesn't work.

offline cwnt on 2009-12-15 23:35 [#02351728]
Points: 951 Status: Regular

it's 75 bucks so get it lol. if you open it, stay away from
the transformer, big capacitors, and power supply area 'cos
they can kill. pull the keyboard out and check it to see if
there are any obvious difference between the middle c and
the other keys. some bit of plastic could be snapped, a
holding piece of rubber could have come loose, etc. if it's
an electrical problem you might want to ask a tech/repair
site what the typical faults are for these keyboards, or i
suppose you could ask on analogue heaven list? in the uk
that synth sells for 600 dollars lol :-)

ya, go for it. Even though its kind of an important key, it
could be a simple as some dirt in the keybed.

Jesus. THat synth is not worth $600. You UKers are
crazy to maintain those prices.

well, that's the ebay prices lol
i'm sure you can get it cheaper if you see it in a pawn
shop
i own two DR110 drum machines
ebay one was £65, pawn shop one was £45

ebay: ripping people off since 1995 :-D

jx3p *with a programmer* *and the 3rd party kit add on that
adds velocity and real time programmer control via midi*
it is a jack of all trades but master of none but lovely
character, craps on a juno 6/0 - buy it, you should be able
to get one even cheaper than that

the delta is awesome but limited, get a trident II instead

the super jx10 is a heavyweight machine but *i think* you
want the rack version instead if i remember rightly

modular is great too coz you can keep adding that is
neverending expense and possibilities... velocity?
polyphony?

jx10 gets bad reviews for a few fundamental cockups in the
design
mks 70 is like two jx8ps in a rack, my mate has one, very
good sounds

unfortunately, the MIDI expansion kit is no longer being
sold. I have a question though, and maybe you can answer it,
i saw on a forum about the pg 200, someone wrote:

"While your external sequencer of choice is running...flip
the switch over to edit mode.

Go ahead and press write to enter edit mode. Once you do
this flip the switch back over to the MIDI postiton. At
first all the lights will blink and you will have one
repeating note but if you proceed to chose a parameter to
edit it will start playing your sequence and allow you to
edit real time. "

Does anyone know if this is a possible workaround to the
expansion kit?
