On first listen it doesn't evoke a lot of emotion and it
seems too sanitised and shiny.

I find it funny that one of this guy's pseudonyms was
TheRapeMachine though, haha! :D

Another one of those IDM musicians whose tracks most of them
I digg. Not at all "the American Aphex Twin" as praised by
someone here in the past in terms of orgasmicly epic
uniqueness or whatever I'm trying to express but pretty damn
good.

100% agree. That summarised what I said about it really
well. ^^

nuun, I will listen to a little more, but I think my mind is
pretty much made up already. Maybe from a technical POV it
is good, so other people on her appreciate it for that. But,
it evokes no emotion. I know AFX is used in a lot of ads,
but Flashbulb was used in a Dove soap advert, which I think
is indicative of the fact that Flashbulb has a generic,
sanitised feel to it.

I gotta disagree with you on "pretty damn good" but I do
like that phrase. :) Anyway, each to their own! :)

it's a shame, i have two flashbulb albums and they're very
well produced, but do pretty much nothing for me. 'red
extensions of me' is probably the better one, though the
cover art for 'kirilian selections' is quite nice.

i think the problem is it never really meshes. i can
actually visualise the individual instrument tracks
scrolling along, which doesn't happen with, well, good
artists.

for example, in the Dove ad tune, 'Passage d', it's just
like a decent enough classical piano tune with some clinical
breaks stuck over the top to make it Dance Music instead,
which as we all know is a lot more street.

Flashbulb's sound reminds me of one of my close friends from
high school, who was (and is) an extremely talented
musician, but when he makes dance music, it sounds like a
classically-trained musician trying to make dance music.

flashbulb = very definition of idm, a genre that didnt exist
in britain until everyone came online and the americans
forced everyone else to say it

he's influenced by aphex etc but he has never contributed
his own ideas to the culture of electronic music because he
doesnt care about exploring electronic music, he has been
programmed by the fake genre of "idm" which says you must
only copy the artists and contribute nothing at all. if you
copy you should at least contribute some new idea in some
way otherwise you suck!

i hate idm so i hate flashbulb music

enjoy it for what it is. melodic electronic music. go any
deeper into it than that and you'll talk yourself out of
liking it. ie. lose the plot.

Flashbulb is kinda depressive, because of some sad melodies.
I dont like this propertie of this performer, and vice versa
I like emotional stuff he puts in tracks.

I'm not one to say wether he put his emotions into this.
It's just the shape of the track. I guess the structure is
quite poppy yes. That beat coming in. Very uneventful.

FOr me personally I just like the guitar riff. I guess the
arrangement isnt the most original but i quite like that
riff. I've had it on repeat for a bit, so to me it's not
without emotion
