An enlightenment writer, eh?
Looks really interesting!
I read this poem by him and it is really beautiul!
Have you read any of his plays/ poetry, or are you mostly interested in his philosophical writings?

Kierkegaard, Camus, Nietzsche. Existentialism is a nice place to start. You don't have to agree with everything said of course.

Yeah, my friend was telling me about Nietzsche last night. His work makes sense in a strangely cynical kind of way.
I think I might get a 'beginners guide to philosophy' book or something, then go from there. I got a book on Scepticism once, but it was written in such a dense, convoluted way that it took me about a week to get to page 9. I got another one, which is written in a more digestable way, which I have with me. Maybe I will read some more of that tonight. It is still not such a fun read, though, even if it is really interesting.
I am reading about Existentialism on Wiki now. Are there any good philosophy/ Existentialist philosophy website that you know of RussellDust?

Nope. Wiki is useful though. I recommend Camu's Myth of Sisyphus.
I don't know how old you are, but in my late teens early twenties this book meant the world to me. It's a short read. I remember arguing about this book with someone here.

Nice one, man. I read about it from the link you gave and that looks really cool and exciting. I might ask for it for Christmas! :)
I have never been really, really into philosophy. Art, always. Politics I took in college and though I was interested in it, I am bad at remembering facts, so I did really badly, but I am still kinda interested in it. Eng lit I am interested in too and study it at uni. I have always liked Buddhism, but, I dunno, it kinda leaves me with a bit of an empty feeling when I do the things Buddha says. My mind becomes too clear and things get a bit too much for me. Especially when I meditate by myself it is like this, but worse. More emptiness. When I meditate in a class it's quite good, though. But anyway, I can't see how I can hold true to Buddhist ethics and retain my personality really. But as Buddhism is a philosophy, I just need to find one, or parts of different philosophies to give substance to my perception of the world.
Sorry for wittering, thanks for the link!

Buddhism is one of the 'nicer' religions and easiest to understand. Shame it's become such a trend. I have a little statue in the kitchen. If it catches my eye i'll touch his tummy. :)

haha, yeah, I used to be annoyed that Buddhist things were used to sell stuff, without people understanding what it was really about. But I have grown out of that silly way of thinking, mostly since I reckon Buddha would just laugh at the futility of my irritation if he was still alive.
Yeah, it brings luck doesn't it, to rub his belly? :D Is it a big fat, happy Buddha? cos I got an austere, skinny Buddha, post-enlightenment. It's cool, though I can't actually remember where it is... :/

Being 21 is cool, but if you are angry at now, I don't think it will change when you get a bit older.
Um, I want to help, but I am not sure what to say. Hopefully you'll be able to chill out at Christmas. It's always a good time to just be decadent, eat loads, get pressies, see family, watch TV with family, which only seems to happen at Christmas. Yeah, I am kinda looking forward to Christmas this year, actually. :)
Are you looking forward to Christmas, Pulseclock- do your family make a big thing of it, or not so much? We don't, really. But it is still a nice time of year.
