Heya, I'm new here and I've been an eclectic fan of Aphex twin for a few years now.
The thing with Aphex is that only certain songs of his appeal to me, probably somewhere along the "pops" category of his stuff.
I always gravitate to songs that have a distinct melody and tend to be turned off by some of his deeper/darker stuff (not that its bad, just something I cant' get into)
songs I like off the top of my head:
-I'm self employed -Avril 14th -Anything on "Melodies from Mars" -4
With this in mind, what are some of his more melodic pieces that I might enjoy? I've been scouring the internet listening to all sorts of stuff (his work is immense) and I REALLY like 1 out of 50 tracks if not 1 out of 100
I appreciate the help (other techno artists welcome too!)
(has he done any other pieces like avril 14th?)

You could also check out Mouse On Mars. For some more pop-oriented stuff of theirs get the "Radical Connector" album and certainly avoid "Varcharz".
As far as simple enchanting melodies go they are on par with Aphex,

yeah we could go on for ages. i'd like to suggest to spot the fact that most of aphexs 'pops' as opposed to most of the shit out there tend to speak like a human voice coming out of a mechanical device rather than speculate on weirdness around the machinaries used to make it. it's alive and spontaneous, that's what it makes a lot of people enjoy it, and that's why it will always win, cos it's richard's sound forced out technology and not the other way around.

I don't understand what 'melodic' means. I understand that noise isn't melodic. Complex melodies are still melodic. But, listening to Big's video to .215061, I have a more important question: which are places of interest in Cornwall?

AFX's Bummy is really a Squarepusher output. µ-Ziq is also rumoured to be the real producer.
