I'm trying to find some interesting earlier or recent
movies dealing with ancient arabian/indian/syrian mystical
themes. Like medieval-arab stuff. Thinking of stuff that has
to do with "100 nights and 1 night" I know there were many
movies made in the 40's and 50s dealing with this type of
literature.

Reason for asking is because i need reference for a project,
and im trying to get good pictures of the interiors of
palaces, extravagant structures, clothing styles,
architecture.

any help is greatly appreciated, t.y.

yeah gingaling i was gonna go and rent it, but i just don't
like feeling the emotions that disney songs give me. Thanks
khrimson, i will check it out. I'm looking for like stuff
that's like something you'd see out of Indiana Jones or The
Mummy, kind of like Middle Eastern/Treasure/Tomb/Palace type
stuff.

there are a lot of games to take some ideas from, i've tried
a couple of point and click adventures but i got bored fast.
those are usually well done in terms of graphics (buildings
ect) but quite silent on the music level, more focused on
the enviromental sound. it would be excellent if you manage
to listen to some field recordings of such areas too

otherwise try exhumed for saturn. there's also a puzzle game
called luxor which has nice musics..

of course, i've always been looking for that sort of feel,
playing games, reading books and whatnot - mostly from
mainstream kind of stuff. i'm not into arab cinematography
but i like stargate if that can help, not the series though.
once i saw a b/w arab movie on the public italian tv late at
night, it was the kind of movie perfect for your need cos it
diplayed the persian society at the early islamic, it talks
about a mathematician teaching forward thinking (for that
time) stuff secretly, he falls in love with a young student
then they get caught by the clergy and all, anyway i can't
remember the title. i did some research some time ago cos i
wanted it for myself but i had no luck. about the cities, i
gave a look around early this year cos i wanted to do a trip
around there but i didn't. music from that areas makes me be
there with a little imagination. you might want to try that.
