installing right now. this better be fucking good, 'cause
i've waited AGES for it. ^_^

calling it "the spiritual successor of baldur's gate" surely
fueled teh hype machine. excited to see if it delivers.

will report back in a few days i suppose.

Definitely feels Baldursgatian to me. I'm playing it on
casual because I never had the patience for the way BG
battles played out... I'd go into battles not knowing what
status effect the bastards were going to cast on me or
themselves, then when they inevitably did cast something
annoying, I'd reload, re-jig my magic stock, and try
again... I just don't care for it, too trial-and-errorish. I
haven't messed with much magic in this game, I'm playing
warrior right now and may replay as a rogue, but the system
seems a bit more user friendly. No D&D rules helps.

I played the BG games almost entirely for the story (main
and sidequests) and setting, and it's all very well done in
this game. Worth talking to everyone and exploring the
dialog trees, fun as usual to experiment with coercion, etc.
Has the same basic flow too, just the right blend of
linearity and freedom, sidequests/stories that stand on
their own yet feel tied to the main story arc.

Holy shit, a merchant just gave me a quest that sounds
really fun, a haunted castle, fuck yeah, so I accepted and
was prompted to pay 6.99 for it.

Ohh, EA, how do I love thee? And the content is probably
already on the hard drive.

I'd like to get it on the PS3 but heard the gameplay is
adjusted for consoles, you can't zoom out and combat is
easier, can anyone confirm this?

Bizarrely the x-box version is supposed to be the worst
looking out of all of them.

It will look best on the system it was written for.
