thanks much anirog, i've downloaded it and now i'm starting the day with this. i love long arab music jams, especially ghazal poems from afghanistan. all the traditional and sacred (profane in there places) music, regardless of the preferred area.. it pretty keeps the secret of rhythm and celebration within. music it's the way to recognize the only one root from where all of us come from. if you reckon some Japan court and Indian ragga music similarities into this, it means that the silk road never ceased to exist.
about revisiting traditional music with modern tools.. listen what aphex twin did in druqks with ancient celtic music. pretty cooly what he did if you ask me. when i was a kid i had a small and rusty Quanun which i loved to strum. maybe the sound can't be recreated but it can be recorded and fucked up. or one can try to get near there try to recreate the feel rather than the sound.
sorry for the long response, i thought it was somehow relevant for the music. cheers
