[mix] FAH Showcase

let's fucking calm down for a bit, and learn to appreciate
talents we got amongst ourselves. One of these talents is
FAH, maker of lush acid music, so i decided to make a very
special mix of tunes he's done, be it old or new.

you can listen to it, or download it here

words by FAH himself are included at the end of the mix.

appreciate.

I really like the track that plays 10:00 - 12:00!

Is it a phaser or another filter on the 303?

It was run through the filterfactory's notch filter.

Sano: I had a cold, sorry, then i usually talk with a bit of
delay.

I could barely understand a thing with those effects going
on, they could have been mixed down a bit. I think you said
you use a x0xb0x instead? Would be cool to get a kit just to
assembly it.

Yeah i do. It came to mind much more than buying a real
tb303, first of all since i can't pay for one, and second of
all because of all the functions on x0x and the hugely
expanded memory. I never had the chance to buy the kit
though eventhough i really wanted to, so i bought one from
the people at x0xsource with some extra squelchy
transistors. It's just somewhat just as big as the tb303,
but it just looks different, has handy midi options (aswell
as the ol' dinsync) and has a bigger memory for storing
patterns and tracks.

I've seen some cool graphic overlays and mods, seems like a
good box to play around, would be cool if we could use the
sequencer on other synths. How much did it cost? I'm
checking adafruit's site but they don't seem to list the
whole kit just the parts individually, bit confused.

x0xb0x

If these are all the parts then even I could get one :D

If it includes an additional parts list, then you can do it
yourself i guess :D Not sure if there are still build
manuals left. Mine costed 480 euros, without taxes, shipping
was free. Taxes were around 40 euros for the netherlands.
The guy is on ebay as "x0xsource"

well, i also didn't buy the tb303 because you showed me
realtime what it could do

ho ho!

oh, to add to my reply to you Sano, i think you can sequence
others synths with it. Obviously by cv/gate, but it has a
MIDI out aswell.

offline Sano on 2009-10-15 18:57 [#02336700]
Points: 2502 Status: Lurker | Followup to Fah: #02336631

Nice, would be fun to sequence some bass lines in there and
trigger the notes on another synth. Ok I checked the parts
list, there's the basic kit then the hard to find parts, at
the end there's not much saving compared to just getting the
x0xb0x built by someone else.
