the same thing is happening with education in australia. its gone from being a meritocratic system, to one where everyone is scaled into the middle of the road - irrespective of how hard you work, or how hard someone else has to work for you. read: making yourself ill over a 'group' project while your 'colleagues' go on holiday for the weekend. but then, i suppose that a good reflection of working life? |

Slightly off topic,but you know what I cant get my head around?That the only seasonal festivity that ALL infant and primary school children in the UK are actively encouraged to celebrate by poetry and art and organised displays is Guy Fawkes Night on November 5th~essentially an act of terrorism. :, |

Yeah I think thats what they do here too,in fact Im pretty sure of it.Maybe I should have said a festival celebrating a thwarted act of terrorism and the subsequent torture/execution of Guy Fawkes.Its still a bizarre thing to let little kids celebrate. Or is it just me? Probably just me. |

It's not just you. It's derelict and irresponsible to allow children to celebrate any form of torture, especially that of a man who died 400 years ago. Pass down the knowledge, not the traditions, I say. |
