FL studio 9: yup it's been out since a couple of weeks.
again a nice step forward imho.
I was a bit sceptical with the new playlist changements. since I was very "pattern" oriented when creating music. but it's definitly an improvement.
Absynth 5:
So this was is available two days ago. I didn't upgrade from 3 to 4 because imho the upgrades where a bit weak.
but 3 to 5 looks prett interesting. lots of new and neat features.
I just hope it doesn't have too much bugs. because I still have this hanging notes bug that's been there since version 2. and it wasn't even fixed in version 4 I've read on the forum.
discuss!

I'm using fl9 and is a good release, expecially since it fixed some nasty CTDs I was experiencing. The only annoyance is it freezes if I save and then immediatly exit, I don't know why really, just a couple of seconds of wait and it's fine. I use the playlist exactly as I used before(mostly for automation) so it's good they didn't screw up that with an unwanted "upgrade". The melodymaker and claw machine tools are nice but not that useful, itì's a bit a waste of time to search trough random possibilities, same thing for the free autogun plugin.
what is lacking this version is definetly the PDC, it's annoying to not have that feature and bounce tracks, but the piano roll editing is still so smooth compared to other sequencers that I can survive that.
Absynth 5 I don't know, I use 4 that was a vast improvement over 3 (morphable oscillator waves, the browser and a shitload of good presets is what I like) but at a cost of huge cpu load, I have a very old pc and and I think I'll stick to this version since it's a softsynth so powerful I have still much to learn anyways.

yeah the PDC thing won't happen anytime soon I think. they would have to do a complete re-write. though I've never actually needed the PDC.

it's really bad when you try to layer several short samples (kicks is an examples) and some of them have heavy effects on them
