please, wave your permaban stick around a little bit. Or carefully knight a couple new mods. The trolls are really out in full force right now, amen.

wouldn't it be XLTIRONIC if a really serious poster came along calling himself 'troll'?

maximum irony.
the trolls are fun in bursts. I liked metallicadude's snail thread and his RIP avatar. But they have an insidious way about them, and they don't stop. Metallicadude for instance spends roughly 9 hours a day browsing the board. It drives away the good quality regulars over time.

by posting over a hundred times a day. I don't hate you metallicadude. You obviously don't do much else with your time but post here, which does in its own way make you a member of the community. Maybe you broke both your legs or something and are stuck in your room all season, I don't know. If I was a mod I probably wouldn't ban you outright but I'd close most of your pointless threads.

that is a good question, metallicadude. What's pointless to me may be "Toby's" favorite subject. I can't really come up with an answer that satasfies. I've officially been stumped by a troll!

I guess my criteria would be at least an *Occasional* post that's meant for a discussion, rather than posts that are meant to further one's "image."
It takes a certain level of perception to be able to tell the difference between the two though.

To be honest, I think xltronic is in a state where any threads are good threads. This place has been on death's doorstep for so long that if we get all eugenic about new trolls it will likely collapse once and for all. I think the vast majority of people who left the board have done so for their own reasons and the trolls are not really to blame. I guess it could be argued that, since xltronic has always had trolls, they have always been a problem which turns some people off. But given that many of my favorite zilty memories are dupe or troll inspired, I consider them the glue that binds us. I agree that we need solid regulars, though.

Generally I guess I don't like it. I have a feeling all these accounts are actually old familiar users but I have no idea who.
Instead of building a community around familiar names, we are rather greeted with a new name every week.
I tend to read the posts of users I know, and skip the ones I don't know, or the ones I feel are trolls.
