i goto my color and light class, talk about photons,
different types of light. Then i goto Record store with a
big 'lights out' poster right by the entrance, then some few
records in after digging noticed a 'lights out' vinyl by
some random braud, then i goto a chinese restaurant and the
power goes out, then i get fortune cookie and it says, "you
will lighten someone's heart," then i drive home and i
listen to records.

chick fried rice,

question to anyone, specifically Barcode:

do you tend to side with the mentality that people who are
mentally ill are justly labelled that because they can't
cope with the realities of certain situtaions etc., or do
you think that mental illness is a negative human creation
that gives people in power the ability to marginalize or
institutionalize someone, (ignoring the fact that some
people actually want a place to escape from life because of
stress or disturbance of the mind).

basically, do you think people are crazy or do you look at
it like people who seem crazy are just normal people who are
utilizing more parts of their brain etc? just wondering

apophenia

Sounds like you think of mental illness as manifesting
within very definite lines.Theres a whole spectrum there
,mate, varying degrees.Or am I reading you all wrong?

no you're right. I was just reading alot of stuff tonight
that had to do with what happened to me today, so apparently
this apophenia, also shares the name with apophis,
which is the greek name for the egyptian god Apep, who is an
'evil demon serpent god' that wants to devour the god Ra and
attempts many times but always fails according to the book
of the dead. Apophis is also the name of the MR4 the
asteroid that was supposed to hit Earth in 2029 or
something.

So all this shit just kinda makes me get a little uneasy,
just feel like i keep digging deeper, and i think it's part
of either a mental illness that i have or maybe just an idle
mind. I like being sane and level headed, not all tripped
out. But i also do like thinking creatively and honestly, if
i do notice certain connections to things, its hard to just
keep it to myself, i feel like i wanna share it.

even if it's just coincidence, I do think it's neat when I
encounter a recurring theme or idea throughout the day, such
as you did today with "light."

also I like it when I learn what I think to be a useless
fact and then that same day I come across a situation where
I know the answer to something because of that "useless"
fact I learned earlier... It's feels like "perfect timing"
or something, almost like I was meant to learn whatever it
was so that I wasn't clueless later on. has that ever
happened to you?

Its part of a healthy questioning mind!It just sounds like
your mind is like a sponge soaking up seemingly irrelevant
data but its a positive thing surely? To keep ones mind
active and alert, thats what we all should strive to do.
I read about the most random and disjointed stuff you
wouldnt believe it.
Sometimes, pulseclock,I wonder if youre seeking validity for
the things you do without thinking, like after youve done
something, you worry about if it was the right decision.Im
not explaining this very well.
Do you think theres something wrong with you?

i tend to refuse the kind of pharmaceutical attitude to
outlaw every single human behaviour distant from the so
called 'normality' and label it as disease, especially
(sorry) in the united states of america where (according to
past reads) its quite a common use to feed psyco drugs to
the people, especially to the children. Personally, I find
interesting that fifty years ago someone has pointed out the
kind of attitude described by your link but at the same
time, that kind of language suggests that it's something for
which you would need to ingest some kind of medication to be
described. and being a bastard, that's quite depressing. the
industrialized one is not the only way to look at things.
you could find countless interpretations of a human
behaviour depending on the culture, and whereas the things
that make a day worth are quite a subjective matter, at the
end, crazy or normal, greek or egyptian, we'll all die. i
found an interesting article a while ago that maybe does not
match 100% with your issue, but since i believe that one is
the scientist of himself you might find some interesting
information in it.

yeah i have had that happen to me also, where something will
happen throughout the day or previous days, and then some
situation presents itself, either some weird issue with
people where you think to yourself, i know exactly what to
do in this situation because of this strange self-discovered
event. And then it feels like a chapter in a book just ended
haha . I wish i could remember a particular event of that
happening tho.

yeah that's exactly it. I love it when that happens.

well honestly sometimes i feel like i have this wierd like
control over things, like when i went to a mental clinic one
time, i was still frazzled with anxiety and i remember
telling this clinic guy that i was afraid that i was gonna
end up like a hitler or something crazy like that. Basically
i think it's just i have a fear of how my life will turn out
and i dont want it to be something destructive or violent or
harmful to others, but i felt as a kid i was going to be
important for some reason, i told my dad and i remember
saying this when i was about 8 or 9. And then there's the
times when i'll almost trip out because im almost amazed at
myself, or like proud of myself that i have the ideas that i
do, or you know, i value the things i do instead of others
values, i often times feel that my values are better than
others because either they are more pure or down-to-earth,
so it makes a person feel pretty different when everyone
around you except a group of two or more friends share your
interests.

i'm so happy to hear that there are people like you who
don't abide by these corporate schemes who just would rather
ship out a bunch of pills than actually take a little less
on the paycheck. Atleast most medicine prescribed for mental
illness is bogus and a scam. that may be too rebellious of a
mentality though, i'll read the link later, thanks.

Believe it or n ot,I went through the same sort of things as
a child.Unfortunately,I cant be much more specific because
it would tell people far too much about me and my life thus
far.But youre not alone, pulseclock, youre not the only one
feeling like this and you wont be the last.
Keep reading,questioning and learning,stay in the light,and
you'll eventually find the right path.

rebellious.. towards what? i see no reason to consider
another mentality more or less valuable than the one i
follow, cos the both of them are concrete and the both of
them are ineffable in some way or another. it's a matter of
perspective, depending on the way life has treated you. and
it's personal, so there is no better. paradoxically, ain't
that some kind of 'control' you gain out of freedom, ain't
that some kind of thinking that points you to the direction
of equality, that makes you lose the attitude of quickly
judjing a person, that makes you reason by dint of
destroying?
it is the same corporate mentality, the one which tends to
put you in a ghetto, romantic or depressing that it may be.

This Apophenia thing just sounds like the disease of a poet,
or just a really creative person. Its a beautiful thing.

I want to believe that we're all special + important, but
that we've just been told that we're not for so long, that
we believe it. But then I see some nasty lowlife scumbag who
enjoys others misery, or wants to cause it, and right and
wrong seem to emerge from the grey as more black and white
again. Is it because of their upbringing? Or are they really
just a waste of oxygen?

Sorry if i'm going off-topic.
