actually, now that I think about it, the single for The Prodigy's Poison was my first electronica purchase...
although Mezzanine by Massive Attack was my first electronica album... I bought it back in the summer of 98 I believe it was, right after it came out... I remember a misses on Muchmusic held up the album, and said it was an excellent album, and they then played teardrop (which is a gorgeous song by the way)... so I bought it, and played Teardrop over and over and over for ages... :)
that whole day is kinda imprinted on my brain for some reason...
I didn't get TOTALLY into electronic music until about a year ago when I bought In Sides by Orbital... the rest as they say, is history...

We used to have TD albums at home. TD and Kiss. "Phaedra" and "Detroit Rock City" were my faves. I started listening to "Phaedra" because I noticed it came out the same year I was born, 1974.

Eddy Grant - Killer on the Rampage 1982 had a lot of electonic elements. "we gona rock down to electric avenue/... and then we take it higher."
The first really electronic album I bout was probably Ministry - Twitch and Ministry - The Land of Rape and Honey 1988. I got them both at the same time.
I might have got Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward just before or after the Ministry albums.
