I know this is freqy's thing but he hasn't done it in forever. I propose we watch District 9 together. There's an easy to find high quality R5 rip floating around. Grab and and let's watch it at 3:00pm (Chicago time). I chose that movie because I haven't seen it yet but I've been hearing nothing but good things about it. If you're interested, post here. Agreed. The last half of the film let it down dramatically, and as someone said in the District 9 thread the protagonist was very hard to care about. Nice Alien Nation style premise, very nice execution, some poor writing. To me the films allegorical allusions seem so out of date as to be pointless so you kind of have to take it at face value rather then as sci-fi with any 'deeper' meaning, which is a shame as with some tweaking I think it could have been really impressive. It was well directed though and I really look forward to seeing what Blomkamp does next. |
