hi i am looking to buy some nice headphones within the range of 150 dollars or less. i would like some nice big comfy ones that fit over your whole ears and are nice and soft, none of the leather stuff and none of that flat stuff that kind of sits on your ear.
i would also like the sound quality to be of a high level and for the bass to be good. i basically want to get the best kind of headphones within this price range.
i dont mind what they look like as long as they arent skullcandy. size doesn't matter . thanks. :)

i've had a pair of the affordable koss pro33a headphones for quite a while and love them. palatable sound quality and extremely comfortable (you can genuinely forget you're wearing these babies).
the only problem is that they often break in one certain joint, but koss has an unlimited lifetime warranty, no questions asked, so for $7 s&h every two years or so i get a brand new pair of 'phones.
and i second your avoition of skull candy - my roommate got a pair and not only did they sound like shit they broke in a couple weeks. now he has a very expensive bottle opener holder and chip clip.

If you want a pair of open headphones with a neutral sound, go for Sennheiser HD-555. Trust me on this one, it's the best deal you'll ever do.
When plugged in a headphone amp they sound way better than my 3000 dollar speakers. But an amp isn't even required 'cause they're only 50 ohm, which means they sound great even on an ipod.

ok so those sonys look decent. the sennheiser ones interested me at first until i did some research about them, discovering how they arent really portable. 10 foot cable and the sound leaks out and all that. i mean i love everything about them other than that, they are sexy as heck and look super comfy , but i am looking for something that i can listen to down town and on the bus and all that. those grados dont really interest me either because they seem to not cover your ears. i want the kind that block out sound.

apple's in ear sucked big time here, and if for leak you mean that the sound goes out it does not. make them try to a friend and you'll hear nothing from the outside.

headphones with long cables are generally intended for home use, not portable. Extension cords, unless of very high quality, can degrade the sound quality and would add additional costs.

If you're looking for full-sized, comfy headphones, then get the highest-priced model you can from Sennheiser, AKG, or Beyerdynamic. Avoid Audio Technica, Sony, and Grado - the latter only because they aren't full-sized or all that comfortable until around $1000.

are there no good portable headphones any more? i mean wtf is up with this 10 foot cord BS. i understand they are for home use. why cant they be used for both? im sure an extension cord doesnt decrease the sound quality that much..

if you get the sonys, you can switch out the pleather pads for velour. that's all that would be needed to suit your needs, and all for under $1oo. you can't go wrong. i'm telling it to you, straight.

If you get Sony headphones, you can also switch out the suck from them by returning them and getting something respectable.

There are loads of good portable headphones - they're just not full-sized. The portable market is now IEM (in-ear monitors). Look at companies like Shure, Westone, Etymotic, etc.

I got some AKG's. the whole ear covered ones with the gold rings around em. They're gangster but kinda delicate and light. If i had the money i would spend more on em to get good fuckin ones that make you think you're in a dream.
