I don't think many people in charitable organisations do it
to be altruistic. Often they are religious, so they are
doing it because they think it's "god's will", thats selfish
not altruistic.

Or maybe they do it because they want to everyone to think
they are great. Perhaps they didn't get much love when they
were kids.

Some people do it because it's a job. Just another way of
earning money, but they have the benefit of everyone
thinking they are wonderful human beings. Great for the ego
I'm sure.

It may sound cynical, but I am pretty sure it's fact in 99%
of cases. There may be the odd altruistic freak out there,
who knows?

With all due respect, you simply haven't got the brains to
understand what's being talked about. So please, rather
than
embarrass yourself, don't bother trying.

i dont hate you, i just think your a cunt.

Barcode, I think you have a hard time realizing your own
flaws in reasoning and such.
When we had those arguments in other threads I didn't really
feel that you were above me intellectually, even on the
contrary I felt your opinions were kind of closeminded and
that you hadn't thought it through enough.

I'm only saying this because I think you have a hard time
listening to others and you are too involved in your own
shit.

well for a start you seem to think you're above people. you
also can't seem to realize most of your music is drivel, and
you come out with a lot of pseudo-intellectual guff.

1. when have i given that impression?
2. thats subjective, my music isnt mainstream
3. i believe in what i have written here, im not saying its
the definitive answer...

music is subjective. a lot of people wont get anything from
my music and to them it will be drivel, but then maybe
others WILL and to them it WONT be drivel, in either case
theres no objective value to sound

i dont think im better than anyone else, where woudl you get
that from? i respect most people, we are all unique and add
our own flavor.

1)When we had those arguments in other threads I didn't
really
feel that you were above me intellectually.

2) of course thats just my opinion. but your reply just
proves how much of a condescending and patronizing fuckwit
you really are. you're implying that my opinion isn't valid
because your music isn't mainstream. the fuck - if you can't
see whats wrong with that I'm not going to explain. I'm sure
the few people still here with a modicum of intellect could
point you in the right direction. and your music is
shit. it sounds like some fat bearded nerd ripping off
autechre from 10 years ago.

3) well you're even more stupid than i thought.

no, thats not what i meant
my point was its harder to like my music, fewer people will
actually get anything from it. if you dont get anything from
it then that doesnt mean your opinion isnt valid, but it
doesnt make MY opinion any less valid either. which is okay
because all music is subjective

offline Guybrush from the white room on 2009-08-25 13:20 [#02318632]

thanks for explaining your view.

now let me explain mine.

my own music, especially in recent years, contain some of my
favorite music and the music i enjoy and listen to the
most.
some of my songs i have spent hours on making exactly how i
want them, they fulfill my vision perfectly and i have grown
technically proficient enough to make what i have in my
head.
so its to be expected that some of my own songs are the ones
i enjoy the most.

i have also a ton of other songs by other musicians that i
label perfect, and that i have spent hours listening to and
enjoying.
to me, music isnt a competition, it is more about capturing
an inner vision. sometimes other musicians have beaten me to
the punch and done a vision that i wish i had done, but
never did. too bad. but then i can enjoy their incarnation
of it because thye already perfected it.

thats the way it goes.. i look at all music as different
emotions, concepts, atmospheres.. we all share the creation
of this massive world that is the musical spectrum.
i have my own and i am happy with what i have done.

the only thing is the music and vision i have, might not be
shared by as many people. in fact i am the only one that can
appreciate my own music perfectly. same with other artists.
but others could get their glimpse or even completely
different views than me, from the same piece of music.
but i dont expect the whole world to like it..
