really underrated actor imo. i just saw adaptation again the other day, and his portrayal of laroche is so fucking stellar. he deservedly won an oscar for that. he's great in several other movies too, like american beauty and capote. in some ways he reminds me of billy bob thornton, only more hardcore and *appreciates* |

nice, at least one is with me on this. i know he's sort of been typecast as "military and authoritarian", but adaptation (and other films) have showed he has a far greater range than that. i'd like to see him portay someone REALLY vulnerable. he'd pull it off effortlessly, but will anyone let him? probably not, it's the luke skywalker syndrome. |
