Well that's disappointing. I really need to buy an operating
system (mine is hacked), and M$ is having a sale on the
upgrade for win 7. For a limited time, it will apparently be
only $50. For once, I really had my hopes up about a
Microsoft product, especially since a friend of mine has
been using the win7 beta on his netbook and seems to think
it's good. This puts me in a shitty position because I don't
want to spend money on a legit copy of vista when it's just
going to be completely abandoned by Micro$haft, nor do I
want some shitty mac OS clone taskbar that is less usable
than vista.

Youre not seriously trying to tell us that win2000 is better
than winXP, are you? If so, you lose all tech credibility.

Secondly, because Windows 7's taskbar doesnt have a single
vague feature that "YOU" feel it needs, it somehow becomes a
failure?

One important question: can you still turn off all these
dumb features and Play School skins and have it look like
Windows 2000 again?

I don't mind improvements, but visual candy that takes up
unnecessary space on an already too-small screen is shit.
Shit shit shit shit shit.

Can you make the taskbar the same height it was in Win2000?
Can you have the start menu back to 2000 style? Even if you
can do this, people are just going to write apps looking
like the default skin. I already see apps now that look like
Vista. Windows is just going to look a mess. Shit shit shit
shit shit.

(Sidenote - "flashy" linux flavours and OSX already look
this way, so they're out right from the start)

Excellent. Now can you do all that and turn off the word
"Start" on the start button?

Grouping of similar windows is a horrible feature.
I use classic taskbar, two rows. Top is for open windows,
bottom is for quick launch icons. Turn off desktop icons,
have a pretty background picture.
On my linux box, using gnome I have something similar.

Hopefully this is possible on windows 7 too.

i'm curious why microsoft changes certain function in
explorer which people got used to over the last few years.

i installed vista today and the first thing that i realised
was that there is no "up" button in explorer. that's
absolutely ridiculous. it just slows down the workflow
significantly.

next is the control panel. what was wrong with "add/delete
programs".

a lot of inconvenient stuff going on. i guess i'll wait
until i will be really forced to use vista or 7 or whatever.
