Hey! I rented PI last night on DVD, and watched it at 3 am,
the movie's awesome. Excellent soundtrack. I was just
wondering if I missed anything and stuff. CAn someone like
explaing the plot or whatever like I sorta got confused by
the end. Then again i did watch it at 3am.....Thanks

I gave a thourough explaination of what I got out of it in
the last Pi thread.

A mathematical genius finds the digit that is "god". some
business men and jews hunts his ass, to get a hold of it. he
decides to put a drill in his head. when he wakes up, he has
lost his ability to do math.

wery narrowed down here.

so he really did put a drill thru his head??? and survived?
i thought that was a dream

offline DirtyPriest from Copenhagen (Denmark) on 2002-04-01 17:41 [#00153580]
Points: 5499 Status: Lurker

Nope. thats what he did.

and that little jap chick? in the beginning she asks him
wery difficult math questions, she does with a calculator,
and he answers them, annoyed. then after he drilled his
head, he just smiles, and say "i dont know! i dont know the
answer....". and he goes out and admires some leaves. it
ends. so being clever doesnt mean you are a happy!

Thanks for the clarification, what an awesome movie. It
makes you get anoyed that there's so much shit out there.

No, no, no.
He dies. He kills himself. The not knowing the answer, not
being good at math anymore, not having the pressures of his
genius cluttering his mind is his idea of heaven.

nah....you sure?

Positive! Look at the difference in footage, too. It's
grainy throughout except at a few key points--one of those
being the end scene.

offline DirtyPriest from Copenhagen (Denmark) on 2002-04-01 18:17 [#00153621]

Amazing, i never thought of that.

but you cant prove any of our sayings. i think he survives!
why should his idea of heaven be like that? even though the
theory is good.

i say he survives.

It just seems more logical to me, I don't know. I don't
have definitive proof, but it's my take on it. Call my a
cynic, but I don't know many survivors of cerebral,
self-induced drill attacks. ;)

The ending is entirely up to interpretation. We don't
really know if he's dead, or still alive and brain damaged,
or what.

offline Asche XL on 2002-04-01 18:27 [#00153648]
Points: 4241 Status: Lurker

Spooky lol

But I guess it can be interpretted either way, both views
are pretty much the same though. Although I like the idea of
he's in heaven at the end. It would make sense

interesting theory spookyluke
what do you think about the end of crouching tiger?

and Dirty Priest,
"little jap chick" is a bit derogatory (spelling?) to quote
Walter inthe big lebowski, "Chinaman is not the preferred
nomenclature, Asian American please."
naw just kidding dirty priest. say what you like. i am
half japanese but it is impossible to offend me. some other
folks might get offended though...

why should it be so difficult? what about - enjoy your life,
don't think too much! Just imagine the last scene would be
coloured.

i think he didn't put the drill in his head. it was an
attack of his migraine.

people have actually done that

i saw a guy on howard stern that had drilled into his
forehead to expand his mind.

he gave himself a lobotomy(i think that's how you spell it)

according to the director's commentary on Pi, sean gullette
(the guy who played max), is a "method actor" and they
"rushed him to the hospital" after the take.

hehe, reminds me of futurama I was watching today, bender
has a hole drilled in his head by an extreme wrestler robot

Thanks, those of you who accept my theory.
As far as Crouching Tiger, I haven't seen it.

christ, still got holes through my hands and feet

Crouching Tiger is a beautiful story mixed perfectly with a
visual delight of the highest order. It's awesome epic
fantasy.

You'd probably like it if you like Princess Mononoke.

yeah...the ending is supposed to be left open for
interpretation...i watched the version with aronofsky's
commentary...and he says that you have to figure it out for
yourself...
so i guess he could either have given himself a labotomy, or
killed himself ...there really is no right or wrong answer..
