i "still" havent bought any Squarepusher yet. What do you
reccomend to buy first? From the tracks i've heard it all
seems to be Drill n bass stuff like the tracks on Drukqs, is
that right?

Is he a bit more diverse than that?

start with either go plastic (his more up to date, mad
stuff) or feed me wierd things (older, more jazzy stuf.)

He's much more diverse than just drill n bass. Feed Me
Wierd Things or Hard Normal Daddy are good starter albums.
Music is Rotted One Note is very jazzy with little to no
sampling. Big Loda is more Drill n bass style.

Feed Me Weird Things has a great intro to SQPR written by
rdj on the back...

Was reading it earlier....kinda smooth...think that's gonna
be my next SQPR purchase...

i have go plastic and selection sixteen (which is
disappointing).

go plastic is very cool, very abstract with a couple of
melodious songs.

I think feed me weird things is the one to go for though I
ain't got hard normal

netlon, I think the good tracks on selection 16 are very
good, just the ones that suck (the others), really suck big
time

I have Go Plastic and Music is Rotted One Note, but I've
heard Hard Normal Daddy and Selection Sixteen. Not sure
about Feed me Weird Things yet. My first Squarepusher
record was Go Plastic, and it rocks! I wasn't at all
disappoitned with it.

well i probably haven't listened to it enough, actually... i
got it about a year ago, and i was so disappointed by it.
agreed, there are some good songs on it. doesn't compare to
go plastic, however.

I think downloading a few tracks is a good way to get a feel
for many artists. Squarepusher, for me, is an exception to
this. His work is varied to the point where downloading a
few tracks probably wouldn't give you a good indication of
his body of work and style. I suggest buying a few records.

Squarepusher has a more jazzy/funky angle to Drill'n'Bass
than RDJ. Probably because he plays bass-guitar.

Its obvious that he is/was into groups like Weather Report,
Herbie Hanckock's bands, early 70s Miles Davis, Chick Corea
Electric Band, Tribal Tech etc. Im really fond of Tribal
Tech. Their new one is excellent. Its called "Rocket
Science". Highly Recommended

His dad was a famous jazz drummer called Jenkinson. Bit of a
fact for you there.

I read in the official aphex FAQ that Big Loda was one of
the few albums rich really loves..and most of the others
were really obscure.

Do you happen to know who he played with?
