Aphex - Can We Trust Him?

OK, so this chapper RDJ is a prankster and a compulsive
liar - this we know. So how come we take anything he says in
interviews as fact? He says most of the music he's made is
sitting on the shelf and will never be released. He says his
best music will never be released because he doesn't want
people copying it.

How do we know he's not lying about that stuff?

Maybe he sits on his ass all day and churns out new records
when he wants/needs money. Hmm?

I'm not saying this out of disrespect for the guy - his
music is some of the best out there. He's a true innovator
in the electronic music genre. He's inspired countless
amounts of other people to make their own creative
electronic music. Honestly, most modern musicians owe
something to the guy... but how much are we glorifying his
existence and his work? Could we be overdoing it? There's no
questioning his genius, but are we at least able to question
his integrity?

By the way, does anyone think he may want to maybe release a
new fucking album? It's been, what, a decade? At least, it
feels like that... =/

i don't think it really matters as long as you still enjoy
his music.

there isn't really any use for 'what if' questions here.
Imagine him alll of a sudden releasing an album saying
'alright you cunts, here it is, my best work ever. Hope
you're happy now because i quit.'

THEN WHAT?

so, enjoy what you have, and go to one of his gigs at least
once in your life.

Meh. I suppose you're right.

I saw him at Coachella, and even though I hear a lot of
people criticize that gig because he didn't play "his own
music" (I've heard that criticism many times now, and I
don't understand it... it sounded/looked like him playing
his music?), I loved it. Would do anything to see him
again...

i put little stock into anything he says in interviews. I
do find the thing about all the unreleased music inspiring
in some way... although I'm no aphex twin in that regard...
fuck... i have hundreds of hours of unreleased music... its
all on an MP3 player I left on a plane.

I guess it all really just boils down to what of interest to
you. For me at least, the interviews and stuff of that
nature don't interest me, I just listen to the music, and I
don't really care about knowing about the person who makes
it a whole lot.

Next thing you know he will be playing with hecker or
something. duh?
- Arma-dill-do's
I can assure you aphex does not need more money to support
his lifestyle he earns enough from selected II on all the
hilter/mass muderer/crimewatch type documentarys, Plus the
30,000 euros per set x 3/4 per year.

I don't think he and Flue Sherbert is going to turn Redruth
into some Aphex tourist attraction in the way Ricky Stein
has with Paidstow.

All you need to know about Rich is it all balls and hype. It
is all about the music. This is why he is the best. Because
he is a true originator. I am the one and only dominatoooor!
repeat.

he's the best at being him.

as is every artist the best at being themselves.

you may prefer one from the other that might constitute
'best' for making you feel a certain way that you perhaps
enjoy.

go on youtube "he's the best " no he's the best " really oh
they all are, are they? o.k.

i would not trust him to retile a kitchen or do any complex
plumbing work, he would probably feed your fish while you're
on holiday if you ask nicely though
